Over $1000 to the Iowa Straw Poll DVD project. I haven't contributed to the official campaign yet.

I have a hard time understanding why people can't contribute at least $5 to the national campaign.

It's not just total dollars that get tracked. The more people that donate, the better.

I'm giving $250 a month. Once I max out, my wife will be giving $250 a month.

Once she maxs out, Dr. Paul will have won the primary and I can once again donate $250 a month.

None so far, but the day I get my green card (If God willing, it happens before the elections), I'll give a bunch. Don't want to break the law. ;)

As a Meetup organizer, indirectly, I have about $100 so far. I expect that number to be around $400 by August.

Around $700 to the campaign itself and probably about $1000 to other things directly related to getting Dr. Paul elected.

... and I've never donated a penny directly to any candidate or efforts to get a specific candidate elected in my 30-odd voting years!

I've donated plenty to causes over the years, as well as to maintain my enrollment in political parties, but never to a specific candidate.

This time it's different, my friends. This time, it's different!!!

;o)

So far I've donated $25 to the campaign and another $20 in supplies for the July 4th event. There is much more to come as I just heard his name for the first time LAST MONTH!

I would strongly encourage everyone to give something to the campaign. Not only could the campaign use the money, but analysts will look at total raised, cash on hand and NUMBER OF CONTRIBUTORS (especially by state).

Good point. Thats why I donated $25 before the Q2 deadline. I was really just starting to support Dr. Paul 100% but I wanted to get something in to atleast count as a donor. Even $5 counts as a donor and shows that he has the potential to tap into that donor for the $2300 limit.

I also was playing around with some numbers trying to make a GUESS as to how much money RP raised in 2nd quarter and this is why I posted in this forum.

(I will use 1st quarter donations information to make a PREDICTION for 2nd quarter)

Opensecrets.com reveals $638489 from all personal donations in 1st quarter:

$393749 come from donations of excess of $200 dollars and there are 447 persons listed, which is $880 per person.

$244740 come from donations of under $200, let us assume an average donation in that category is $100, so that makes 2447 people.

The average donation of $100 in the sub $200 category is not unreasonable given that STUDENTSforpaul.com raised $40625 from 542 contributors which is $75 per person.

So according to the above logic RP has had 2894 people donate so far in 1st quater 18% of which come from the upper category and 82% come from the lower category.

Lets assume that Ron Paul actually has 400,000 supporters (potential contributors).

400,000 seems like a reasonable number because it is roughly how many votes he received in his last bid for presidency and surely those that supported RP then would still support him now and any gap due to time span is sure to be filled with new supporters. We all remember how RP mentioned that support for the message of freedom is growing and we know that RP keeps getting re-elected to congress so he couldn't be possibly losing support with his 10 terms in congress could he?

Let us also assume that only 5% of supporters actually donate, which is a very conservative figure as you can see but I think entirely reasonable at this early stage.

So we have 20,000 donors.

Using our distribution we have

16,400 * $100 + 3,600 * $880

1.64M + 2.88M = 4.52M

We can also use this polls average donation which is $370 (using middle of min/max ranges) in which case he raised 20,000 * $370 = 7.4M However, I think this poll is skewed because people who contribute represent more dedicated fans of Ron Paul.

Personally, I think RP has raised over 5 Million in 2nd Quarter.

When you think about it 20,000 donors isn't that many when you consider that it has been a full 3 months since last totals and that his exposure has been huge and that at this early stage of the presidential race he already has:

39,895 MySpace Supporters
17,366 Meetup Supporters
18,979 Youtube Supporters

and leads in all of these categories in the republican field.

$50. $25 of that was matched, so indirectly $75.

maxed out and now giving money to others to donate to ron paulI'd like to point out that doing the above is illegal, as in shown here: http://www.fec.gov/pages/brochures/citizens.shtml

Contributions in the Name of Another

Contributions made in the name of another are prohibited. For example, an individual who has already contributed up to the limit for a candidate's election may not give money to another person to make a contribution to the same candidate. Similarly, a corporation is prohibited from using bonuses or other methods of reimbursing employees for their contributions.
Giving money for other purposes that aren't directly organized by the official campaign is fine, but just giving it to someone else to give to the campaign should not be done.

$250 every two weeks since beginning of may. I've never donated to a campaign before, but if it helps get him elected its well worth it. Oh wait, I gave Michael Badnarik a stick of gum back in 2004 at the Illinois state fair if that counts.:D

Just change that option to maxed out.

I'm not old enough to donate, but I got both parents to give $25, so I put that I'm at $50.

You have to get the ADMIN to change it. They can edit the poll.

ok, would be greatly appreciated.

Again, I apologize for that. I honestly didn't know that this was an illegal practice. Maybe change to "and now donating my time to the campaign" or something.

Also, get rid of the 1000-1000 option. That was a mistake as well.
