On a side note, and I dont know how reliable it is I know that NBC has taken its shows off of apples iTunes becuase they thought they could get more money for their shows and apple wouldn't raise the prices. So NBC created its own distribuation network and funny thing is now it doesn't work on Apple products. So they may raise prices, but lose some of the market. That needs to be fact checked, but it wouldn't surprise me as I did hear about the whole price dispute thing awhile back.

Thank goodness you aren't as close minded about politics as you are about computers. I use Windows, Linux(gentoo,ubuntu,debian), and OS X(my macbook pro) on a daily basis. Linux on my desktop, and OS X on my laptop. For a student and especially for a laptop I would go NO other way.

I was closed minded about it until 2 years ago, when on a whim i got my laptop from my grandparents. I'd also like to ask, what all is proprietary that isn't proprietary in Windows? OS X is built on a certified UNIX kernel which is completely open source. Seriously give me a problem, and I guarantee I can do it on a mac.

I love how people are oblivious to the fact that generation Y is HEAVILY mac favorable. The buy ratio of most college students is about 50/50 mac/pc and its almost 80% macs on the laptop side

I meant upgrades like swapping out a motherboard, ram, and CPU, or possibly buying a new case. Those kinds of upgrades. Bottom line is that PCs are 10 times cheaper for guys like me who like to have total control of what's in my system, from chipset and CPU type to video card and cooling options. With Macs you get pretty much a cookie cutter system.

Also they just advertised RP being on Beck's show a few minutes ago, but CNN is currently talking about Huckabee and Ed Rollins. Blech.

At best Apple is highly unethical. They do not give back to any of the OSS projects they took from, most notably Konqueror and FreeBSD. In fact, several of the things they took from -- right down to the kernel itself -- Apple has made closed source.

Don't let the fanboys blind you. As an open source developer, I can tell you first hand they are deeply resented within the OSS movement, almost as much as Microsoft.
