Baltimore City Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives are now investigating a van loaded with 1,000 gallons of gasoline in a parking garage in downtown Baltimore City. The van was found near the area of where President Trump is expected to visit Thursday, reported The Baltimore Sun (https://www.baltimoresun.com/maryland/baltimore-city/bs-md-ci-building-evacuated-20190909-tsjjax7jw5fjtmk35pnajgvh5m-story.html).
A police spokesperson told The Sun that they received a call at 11:02 am about a suspicious van in a parking garage at 100 E. Pratt St., which is home to T. Rowe Price and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Around noon, emergency crews expanded the evacuations zone across the inner Harbor to include The Gallery shopping mall, the Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace and Brookshire Suites hotels.
T. Rowe Price employees have confirmed they've been sent home for the day -- many are shook-up at what could have been a possible terrorist attack ahead of President Trump's visit. Officials haven't yet confirmed if terrorism was involved, but packing 1,000 gallons of gasoline into a van is certainly suspicious.

About one hour ago (1:30 pm), Light Street was evacuated.
The Sun provides several accounts of what's happening on the ground:

Baltimore's Inner Harbor area across from the building was scattered with people dressed in business clothes after the evacuation. Many were clustered together talking, wondering aloud about what's going on. One woman said many people were just using this time to take their regular lunch hour. Several people walked up to crime scene tape, trying to get a view of what's going on in the several block radius.
Erik Williams was working at his desk inside 814 Light St. when his Human Resources director came up and told him there was an emergency on Pratt Street. The 25-year-old was curious to know what was going on so he and a friend decided to grab lunch in the area. But now, they can't get back to their office because it's part of the crime scene. Williams said the incident is also a "coincidence" for how close it falls to the anniversary of Sept. 11.
"It's a little overwhelming and certainly concerning," said Williams, who works in Exelon's human resources department.
The Baltimore City Department of Transportation tweeted a map of the evacuation zone.

It only had 80 gallons of suspected stolen fuel in it. Trump is not due in Baltimore for two more days. He is not at risk from the van.

Suspicious van filled with bins of gasoline was found to be harmless after evacuations in downtown Baltimore

Baltimore emergency officials evacuated a large area of downtown Monday after an unoccupied van loaded with containers of possibly stolen gasoline was discovered in the parking garage of one of the city’s most venerable companies, officials said.

The widespread evacuation of T. Rowe Price Group and other firms in several high rise buildings downtown snarled traffic, sparked Sept. 11 anxiety and transformed the heart of the city’s business and tourist district into a crime scene tied off with yellow tape.

But a police robot that entered the 15-passenger van with blacked out windows did not discover a bomb. Instead, it found a device used for stealing diesel fuel and two bins full of possibly stolen fuel, police said. Several city officials said they were told the van contained approximately 1,000 gallons of gasoline, but a spokesman for the Maryland Department of the Environment later said about 80 gallons of diesel fuel was offloaded from the vehicle.

Trump recently called Baltimore a "a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess." and a "dangerous and filthy place" in a tweet.

It's hard to tell, initial reports can be exaggerated but not this much.

There was undoubtedly enough to cause a big explosion and it may very well have been part of an assassination attempt against Trump.

It's very possible to tell, because as oyarde alluded to, it's not feasible to get a van - any van - to hold a thousand gallons of fuel.

The Chrysler Pacifica minivan has 140.5 cubic feet of storage space behind the front row.
1 US fluid gallon = 0.133680556 cubic feet
140.5cubic ft/.1336805556 = 1051.01298351871 gallons

That said, in a standard van, you'd bottom out and bust the suspension if you tried it.

1051 gallons of gas X 6.073 pounds per gallon at standard density comes to 6382 pounds.

A thousand gallons of diesel is seven thousand pounds of fuel.
Gas not diesel.
Gas weighs about six pounds per gallon so it would be about 6,000 pounds.
It could have been less than 1,000 gallons and they could have overloaded the van.

I answered that question.

As to you, I guess its impractical to upgrade the suspension of a van? Or that the van used wasn't a minivan but a commercial model with a higher weight capacity?
And the max weight capacity, that's for practical driving purposes, not "hey, lets fill this fucker up to the brim, cuz we are gonna blow it sky high and don't care if we blow out its suspension because its going to kingdom come in 2 days.

for all any of us know, it could have been parked in place, then loaded after already parked. maybe that's why it was noticed because it was so low to the ground.

Firstly, while this whole story seems unlikely to be much of anything significant, I don't know for a fact, and don't care enough to do any research. So I have no opinion on that score. However, here's a fun fact:

Diesel fuel weighs approximately 1 pound more per gallon than does gasoline. So 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel would weigh approx. 1,000 lbs. more than a similar amount of gas.

Make of it what you will.

1000 gallons = 26.1444 sq ft. So, we need to know the type of van and its interior dimensions. I suppose one could install a rubberized bladder that would hold a liquid in a most non-conformed shape.

It only had 80 gallons of suspected stolen fuel in it. Trump is not due in Baltimore for two more days. He is not at risk from the van.
Trump recently called Baltimore a "a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess." and a "dangerous and filthy place" in a tweet.

Look at you, dishonestly trying to blame Zero Hedge over misinformation that came directly from Baltimore's own moronic officials!

The Baltimore Sun story - which you yourself linked to - states:

“city officials said they were told the van contained approximately 1,000 gallons of gasoline and Fire Chief Roman Clark repeated the line during a news conference around noon.” ...and that’s what every news sources originally reported! Obviously, the story was updated later as correct info was teased out by more reliable people. Regardless, although Baltimore is still a dangerous, infested and filthy place - there was no intelligent reason for you to bring up Trump's accurate statement on this separate issue, in this particular thread - so it's clear you are not here to get at the facts.

Here’s one of the '1000 gal. gas' announcements a few typically-inept Baltimore officials put out yesterday:
