Attorney General William Barr delivered an emotionally charged speech defending law enforcement this week to the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) for its 64th Biennial Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana. FOP is the US' largest fraternal police organization.

"To my mind, there is no more noble profession than serving as a police officer," Barr said. "You put your own life and well-being on the line to protect your communities."

He added: "Your families spend anxious nights, so we can sleep in peace. You never know what your day may bring — what uncertainty, danger, or threat you might face. But you still get up, put on your uniform and badge, kiss your loved ones, and head out to face whatever risks might come your way."

But Barr went on to say that police officers are "fighting a different type of war ... an unrelenting, never-ending fight against criminal predators in our society."

"Even in a healthy society, violence, lawlessness, and predation lie just below the surface," the attorney general said. "In the final analysis, what stands between chaos and carnage on the one hand, and the civilized and tranquil society we all yearn for is the thin blue line of law enforcement. You are the ones manning the ramparts — day in, and day out."

After telling the crowd that "we need to get back to basics," Barr said that public figures in the media and elsewhere should "underscore the need to 'Comply first, and, if warranted, complain later.'"

"This will make everyone safe — the police, suspects, and the community at large," he said. "And those who resist must be prosecuted for that crime. We must have zero tolerance for resisting police. This will save lives."

And so on. (https://www.businessinsider.com/william-barr-zero-tolerance-fraternal-order-police-speech-2019-8)

Yes, when the officer tells you to get on your knees and suck his dick; you must first comply and complain later (if you didn't like it).

I believe the Judge wrote this (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?538015-A-Few-Words-About-Guns-and-Personal-Liberty) just for AG Barr.

Summing it up:

The government? Yes, the government. That's so because the Second Amendment was not written to protect the right to shoot deer. It was written to protect the right to shoot at tyrants and their agents when they have stolen liberty or property from the people. If you don't believe me on this, then read the Declaration of Independence. It justifies violence against the British government because of such thefts.

Oh what a load of horseshit.

I face more danger and uncertainty of coming home than they do.

So does Danke for that matter.

A garbageman is at greater risk, and arguably does a more important job in keeping things clean and orderly.

Never saw a bag of trash bribe a corrupt garbageman to not pick him up.

73 total "line of duty" deaths for 2019.

163 last year.

There is NO "war on cops".

There is war on us though.

In light of the "red flag" laws being thrown around, as well as this recent development, I posted this in another thread back in May:

New Attorney General Nominee William Barr’s Record on Guns Revealed

Dec 08, 2018

President Trump said yesterday that he intends to nominate William Barr as Sessions’ replacement. The choice has been greeted by applause from both Democrats and Republicans. Barr is a Bush 41 retread, having served as Assistant Attorney General, Deputy Attorney General, and finally as Attorney General. BATFE was under the Department of Treasury during Bush 41’s term and the Department of Justice had only limited authority over firearms.

Barr has said little about firearms or gun control during his career, but he is widely considered to be the author of PL 101-647, The Crime Control Act of 1990.

The Crime Control Act of 1990 had a number of firearms provisions. The Gun Free School Zone Act is the biggie, but probably the work of Senator Herb Kohl of Wisconsin – not Barr. The GFSZA’s strange rules set the context for MGO v. AAPS, despite SCOTUS finding much of it unconstitutional in Lopez.

The ban on domestic assembly of semiautomatic rifles prohibited from importation is Barr’s big aggravation in The Crime Control Act of 1990. This was a follow on to Bush 41’s 1989 prohibition of ‘unsporting’ long arms importation. Other provisions:

– Increased prison sentences for SBRs, SBSs, and destructive devices to 10 years.
– Barred firearms transfers to non-residents of the USA
– Banned firearms in federal court facilities
– Cleaned up bad grammar in previous gun control statutes.

So often, I see people charged with resisting arrest and nothing else. Ridiculous.

This will save lives.

No it won't.
