"This morning, Twitter locked our account for posting the video of real-world, violent threats made against Mitch McConnell. This is a problem with the speech police in America today," McConnell campaign manager Kevin Golden told the Courier Journal. "The Lexington Herald-Leader can attack Mitch with cartoon tombstones of his opponents. But we can’t mock it.

Bet Twitter wouldn't lock the account of a Democrat.

So the Twatterings of the Bolsheviks surrounding his home and threatening to stab him in the heart stays up.

A sitting US Senator's campaign staff that highlights the threats of that same Bolshevik mob gets taken down.

What did I tell you people, ten years ago?

Fuck a bunch of FedBook, fuck a bunch of Twatter, fuck a bunch of Screwgle.

It's cancer.

Not terribly interested in the Turtle’s tweets, but he should consider using an alternative. Trump should too.

1. Mastodon

Probably the most popular Twitter alternative currently available, Mastodon is an open-source microblogging platform filled with ‘toots’ instead of tweets. See what they did there?

2. Gab

Swinging to the opposite end of the political spectrum, Gab has built up something of a reputation as a haven for conservatives, libertarians, and other traditionally right-leaning folk.

3. Amino

Once again returning to the theme of tailored social networking, Amino is a teenager-focused platform based around communities. This ensures that you can engage with people who share your interests, making it a more focused alternative to Twitter.

4. Peeks

If we say “Twitter but with videos,” you’d probably think that something like that must exist already (aside from Twitter itself, which does support videos). But there isn’t a social network out there that’s as committed to the idea of short video snaps as Peeks (formerly known as Keek).

Here are seven alternatives you can consider switching to.

1. Gab.ai

With an aim of putting “people and free speech first” Gab has proved a controversial alternative Twitter. Intentionally or otherwise, Gab has become known as the “alt-right” alternative to Twitter; indeed, it was formed as an antidote to what CEO Andrew Torba described “the entirely left-leaning Big Social monopoly.”

2. Mastodon

If alt-right and conservative undertones don’t work for you, perhaps a more specialized social network is the answer? Mastodon might be what you’re looking for, an open source alternative to Twitter that gives you far more control over what you see and the conversations you have.

3. Amino

Available as a mobile app (you can run Android apps on a PC), Amino can be installed on Google Play and the Apple App Store. Its focus is similar to Mastodon: you’re given communities to join based on your interests.

4. Raftr

A social network based around unfolding news stories, Raftr lets you engage in conversations with people who share your interests. Raftr groups are known as “rafts” and these enable you to get in touch with friends and would-be friends, and discuss topics.

5. Plurk

Just a couple of years younger than Twitter, Plurk was founded in 2008 and is especially popular in Taiwan. This probably explains how Plurk has managed to survive so long with a service that is surprisingly similar to Twitter.
