A$AP Rocky is allowed to leave Sweden while he awaits the verdict over a street fight in Stockholm.
His case hit international headlines after Donald Trump weighed in on the US's rapper's (https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/3735338/asap-rocky-kendall-jenner-boyfriend-rapper-arrest-sweden-assault/) jail treatment.

Today, the 45th president tweeted: "A$AP Rocky (https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/9632832/asap-rocky-bodyguard-rapper-sweden-trial/) released from prison and on his way home to the United States from Sweden. It was a Rocky Week, get home ASAP A$AP!"
The rapper, who's real name is Rakim Mayers, pleaded not guilty to assault after he was arrested earlier this month.

A$AP Rocky, Trump fans call for boycott of Swedish brands

After A$AP Rocky was charged with assault and detained by Swedish officials, fans are fighting back with calls to boycott Swedish brands, claiming the country’s treatment of the “Praise the Lord” rapper is racist.

His trial begins Tuesday amidst several bizarre events, including an A$AP Rocky fan threatening to blow up the Swedish embassy in Washington, D.C. and President Trump blasting Swedish leadership for its mistreatment of Rocky and letting down the “African-American community.” The president said he spoke with Sweden’s prime minister Saturday about the jailed rapper and “offered to personally vouch for his bail.”
Supporters of Rocky and the president called for the boycott last week with the growing demand to #FreeRocky. #Boycottsweden is trending on Twitter Opens a New Window. (http://www.foxbusiness.com/category/social-media) targeting Ikea, Absolut Vodka, Volvo and Spotify. #Boycottikea also trended on Twitter.
He faces up to two years in prison and fines, as prosecutors allege that he and members of his team assaulted defendants over a public brawl involving headphones on June 30th. Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, claim they acted in self-defense, but he will remain in a Kronberg prison before pleading his case.

Rev. Al Sharpton enters #JusticeForRocky fray, pleads for A$AP Rocky detained in Sweden

A$AP Rocky has received an outpouring of support following reports on his treatment in a Swedish jail (https://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/music/ny-asap-rocky-sweden-assault-charge-20190705-eyj34matsvbxzcsh5jv6bili5m-story.html#nt=instory-link)following a physical altercation.
The #JusticeForRocky hashtag has surfaced on social media in recent days, with fans and celebrities rallying together to demand the chart-topping hip-hop artist be released.
Civil rights activist and media personality Rev. Al Sharpton is joining the fray in support of the Harlem-born lyricist.
On Wednesday, Sharpton met with Renee Black, A$AP Rocky’s mother, and other relatives of the men arrested in Stockholm on June 30, at his National Action Network corporate offices in New York.

Sweden rejects Trump demand to free rapper A$AP Rocky
President has been repeatedly told that angry tweets will make no difference, Swedish government says

It comes after the president sent a barrage of angry tweets ordering the country to free the rapper after he was charged with assault.
Sweden said that Mr Trump's tweets will not help free the rapper because the country's judicial system is independent from politics.

The Swedish government said that it had repeatedly told the US president that his interventions would not help. But Mr Trump continued to tweet, with his latest post including an angry outburst at the country.

More details are coming out how an international diplomatic crisis may have been averted.
Apparently Kanye West also showed bold leadership to mobilize US government at the highest level.

Trump sent America’s top hostage negotiator to Sweden for A$AP Rocky’s trial (https://www.vox.com/2019/7/31/20748443/asap-rocky-trial-sweden-hostage-envoy-trump)

A$AP Rocky isn’t Sweden’s hostage. The White House sent its hostage envoy there anyway.

Rapper A$AP Rocky (https://www.vox.com/2019/7/29/8931606/asap-rocky-sweden-trial-trump)’s trial began in Stockholm, Sweden, on Tuesday, and the Trump administration sent a very notable guest: the US presidential envoy for hostage affairs.
The New York Times (https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/30/arts/music/asap-rocky-sweden.html) and Politico (https://www.politico.com/story/2019/07/30/asap-rocky-presidential-envoy-1441008) reported that Robert C. O’Brien, the US top diplomat responsible for negotiating the release of Americans held abroad, is in Stockholm to monitor the trial of A$AP Rocky (https://www.politico.com/story/2019/07/30/asap-rocky-presidential-envoy-1441008), whose real name is Rakim Mayers.

Rocky and two members of his entourage have been charged with assault. His arrest became a sore point in the US-Sweden relationship last week when President Donald Trump personally intervened (https://www.vox.com/2019/7/29/8931606/asap-rocky-sweden-trial-trump) in the case, speaking directly with Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven, and then made that involvement very public on Twitter.

Thanks to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's persistent lobbying (https://www.refinery29.com/en-us/2019/07/238200/kim-kardashian-kanye-west-lobbying-to-free-asap-rocky), Donald Trump is making moves to save A$AP Rocky following his arrest (https://www.refinery29.com/en-us/2019/07/236995/asap-rocky-sweden-street-fight) over a street fight in Sweden. Trump tweeted about the case (https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1152307567634391041) on Friday.
"Just spoke to @KanyeWest about his friend A$AP Rocky’s incarceration. I will be calling the very talented Prime Minister of Sweden to see what we can do about helping A$AP Rocky. So many people would like to see this quickly resolved!"
On Thursday, Kardashian tweeted her thanks to Trump (https://twitter.com/KimKardashian/status/1151982013508775936) for getting involved in the case against Rocky (née Rakim Mayers). The artist was arrested — along with two others — on June 30, after a video of him in an altercation following the Smash X Stadion festival in Stockholm surfaced.

U.S. warned Sweden of 'negative consequences' if ASAP Rocky wasn't released

The rapper landed back on U.S. soil Saturday, leaving behind him the looming verdict in an episode that has led to unexpected tension between the U.S. and its European ally.

The U.S. government warned Sweden of "negative consequences" as it advocated for rapper ASAP Rocky during his trial for assault charges (https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/swedish-prosecutors-want-asap-rocky-serve-six-months-behind-bars-n1038711) in Stockholm this week, according to a pair of letters released by the Swedish Prosecution Authority (https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/6239353-Petra-Lundh-O-brien.html).
Rocky was released from jail on Friday pending the verdict, with President Donald Trump celebrating the news on Twitter (https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1157345692517634049?s=20). "It was a Rocky Week, get home ASAP A$AP!" Trump said.
The rapper landed back on U.S. soil Saturday, leaving behind him the looming verdict in an episode that has led to unexpected tension between the U.S. and its European ally.
According to the letters, obtained by NBC News partner Aftonbladet, the U.S. special presidential envoy for hostage affairs wrote to Swedish prosecutors urging them to release Rocky.
"The government of the United States of America wants to resolve this case as soon as possible to avoid potentially negative consequences to the U.S.-Swedish bilateral relationship," Amb. Robert O'Brien wrote in the letter, dated Wednesday.
In response Sweden's prosecutor-general, Petra Lundh, defended the independence of Swedish courts and said he therefore had to deny O'Brien's requests.
"No other prosecutor, not even I, may interfere with a specific case or try to affect the prosecutor responsible," Lundh wrote in a letter dated Thursday.
The letters marked the latest intervention by U.S. officials in a case that has commanded the attention of figures ranging from the president to Justin Bieber.
Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, was arrested and charged with assault (https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/rapper-ap-rocky-arrested-suspicion-assault-sweden-n1026081) over a street brawl in the Swedish capital on June 30.
Trump began weighing in on the case last month following outcry from celebrities (https://www.nbcnews.com/news/nbcblk/celebrities-demand-asap-rocky-s-release-swedish-detention-center-n1028226) including reality TV star Kim Kardashian-West (https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/kim-kardashian-west-thanks-trump-reported-help-free-ap-rocky-n1031546) and musician Rod Stewart.
Trump said (https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1152577020594917376) he spoke to Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven asking for his release and "offered to personally vouch for his bail."
