This is a cut-n-paste because I wanted to comment but didn't want to derail the other thread.

This could be another manifestation of out of control global spending in foreign countries if this NBC report out yesterday is not fakenews:

Enlisted men have never been able to raise a family of 5 on one salary, especially if they own a car/cellphone(s) and subscribe to cable Tee-Vee.

This idea being foisted on the citizenry that they're 'entitled' to do so is ludicrous!

Today's society tries to place 'public service' on a pedestal when the reality is 'public service' jobs have been, and should continue to be, for those incapable of succeeding in the real world.

Hero's are dead and they died doing something heroic not enforcing mandates or agendas. 'Public servants' are not hero's they're one step above welfare and still part of the tax-tick class of society.

Enlisting in the military used to be a way to learn a productive skillset for use in the real world.
