President Donald Trump has often bragged about attending University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.

However, it turns out he might’ve gotten some help getting into what he calls “the hardest school to get into.”

The Washington Post spoke to James Nolan, a former admissions officer at Wharton who interviewed Trump in the 1960s, who described how Trump’s family lent a helping hand in the process.

Nolan said that Trump’s older brother, Fred Trump Jr., had called him in 1966 asking for an interview with his brother.

“He called me and said, ‘You remember my brother Donald?’ Which I didn’t,” Nolan, told The Post. “He said, ‘He’s at Fordham and he would like to transfer to Wharton. Will you interview him?’ I was happy to do that.”

According to Nolan, Trump brought his father to the interview. Fred Trump Sr. then tried to “ingratiate” himself with the admissions officer.

Nolan was the only officer who was allowed to speak to Trump and give him a rating. Though he doesn’t remember what that rating was, “[I]t must have been decent enough to support his candidacy,” he said.

But only Nolan’s boss, who is now deceased, could make the final decision on Trump’s application.

Nolan also notes that it wasn’t particularly difficult to get into UPenn — which currently has an acceptance rate of 7.44 percent — at the time.

“I certainly was not struck by any sense that I’m sitting before a genius,” he told the Post. “Certainly not a super genius.”

Trump graduated from the university’s Wharton School of Finance, which he has touted as “the hardest school to get into, the best school in the world” and “super genius stuff,” according to the Post.

But former admissions official James Nolan told the Post that in 1966, more than half of the applicants to Penn were accepted and that transfer students such as Trump, who transferred from Fordham University, had an even higher acceptance rate.

Whenever his intellectual credibility is questioned or mocked, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is quick to remind everyone where he attended college.

“I went to the Wharton School of Finance,” he said multiple times in a July 11 speech in Phoenix, Ariz. “I’m, like, a really smart person.”

Despite Trump’s repeated mention of Wharton, his own classmates hardly remember him, and he even describes the school’s high-flung reputation as overwrought in his 1986 book, “Trump: The Art of the Deal.”

“In my opinion, that [Wharton] degree doesn’t prove very much, but a lot of people I do business with take it very seriously, and it’s considered very prestigious,” Trump wrote.

He added, “It didn’t take long to realize that there was nothing particularly awesome or exceptional about my classmates, and that I could compete with them just fine.”

This is huge news : ), ...in other news, no one to speak of actually knew
Obama in College.

We had a president (Obama) that is probably still not a US Citizen today.

Ya it is kind of comforting knowing trump is an american who loves his country instead of a foreigner like Obummer or a flimflam man like clinton , or someone who hates us all like LBJ . Then there is always gore , kerry and hillary to fall back on . Good God .

A very unusual practice amongst elite politicians and affluent families... They normally prefer average, public schools, just like the rest of the populous.

Especially those democrats - who will actually pursue poor/easy schools, because their self loathing requires them to.

On a more serious note, I wonder the acceptance rate of asians are to that school.
