While grassroots gun activists have had their hands full with establishment House Speaker Dennis Bonnen and his successful campaign to kill pro-gun legislation, gun control is surprisingly on the move in Texas.
Last week, HB 545 (https://u9372864.ct.sendgrid.net/wf/click?upn=wzpUorGi-2FUc4Tut0uSKQP6OhX0nMMQ3ymxB4ejY237VRvNSWwFcQMVnVI 6TIr1QZWz33dtCElkRu4Ian6GOZNBXY3CpS18ENnVQ3NzjobUD 0i2UFNFogIi1pfcFW6hNzDoG1ohgWn3AEFhha3SkDqYxmS1RYE om2mcrCGCRqO1UTn-2BGqEkfZJ23BK67-2FpiHxU-2FlJunRsbDRlpkbgac7m8d5l2pc-2BC-2FfN9cbeYeggkdYamV0jRuhOXg-2FEG6cztN9r-2FtEoO94-2BDNBxI6NTYIMMVO1VEi1b6DErxuZ4qmo0FjE-3D_6o-2BZxDTU9Dvtfe5nTdFlcEU1OlQD3VPC9Gqc1VSyriR-2Fpdo03ghpID-2FUcK-2FU4zPRL3B0K8fE-2F8hs7lR01qhYI1vxFE6oEW7a3rU159W7cdnQ8nR2C4YkyYBjN jmyfrgyiGhEc-2Bt9MEmsN7rrD2goOfZvYJeZcRz79OCbYanfI0SvehlR6IWZyL n9ztSfYUsYsjGQAXDtCXssJRAb2nrvdkkErhOOUCcT7ScvSMxa RCsE2r0WZoX6s1vP9-2FQwzusr8VkG-2FhWRXl6vHkp7AtrWkTVsgs2RCz3011srvPuNlC7zbjA7GjAT-2FHkZf-2FX5oijYNhmwvuLuePmjubnG-2Fah1oAKMd0eXfIHJgZ693Vj-2FdeWW8CprLvYxDP58zBZCnzLIMk0nEnZcGpSc6RkiV1GUGxd1 ZcAXO4wh8OWdWlzDCk-2B0TQ4rPY3I2kVoLqwzuu5rKwth-2FyQ1rAynWCZg3KQsYFepk0MXEvH8pm6sljttwOLZgKtSe322I wxBsva3kFB9uqQ4am4oOI-2BBZycycAATmAVonz4dvSdnoyzggbjn9C6lE-2BM2zUl9l7mLF9V7Fh83) was voted out of the Criminal Jurisprudence Committee 7-2 with three Republicans voting alongside four Democrats. This bill was authored by anti-gun Homeland Security and Public Safety Chairman Poncho Nevarez, who played a significant role in killing Texas’s Constitutional Carry bill HB 357 (https://bigleaguepolitics.com/constitutional-carry-is-officially-dead-in-texas/).
In an email, Lone Star Gun Rights called for its members to oppose this bill.
According to LSGR’s Senior Editor Derek Wills, HB 545 “would make it a crime for any Texan to lend, sell, or gift their firearm to anyone who has ever received “mental health” treatment by court order, even if they are ignorant of that fact.” The gun rights activists adds that courts in Texas “can order mental health treatment without any official diagnosis or even the commission of a crime.”

In its current form, it's basically unenforceable. It makes it a crime to sell weapons to someone you know is a crazy person. But unless you're their doctor or some shit, how the hell would you know? I guess if the person buying weapons was AF or Oyarde you would have a "reasonable cause to believe" they're crazy, but otherwise most people come across as fairly normal.

Seems like this backdoor deal making template is latest liberal tactic by keeping things out of sight of conservative handlers. Dems/RINOs are working this new strategy effectively.

No cameras, no conservative handlers: Trump wheels and deals with Democrats

Replacement Voters / Future Demoncrats are on their way to Texas right now to make sure this bill, or one of the next iterations of it goes thru.
