Pope Francis and the Catholic Church are now funding the migrants approaching the U.S. southern border while the Vatican scoffs at America’s border laws.
“Pope Francis has donated 500,000 dollars to assist migrants in Mexico. The funds, from the Peter’s Pence collections, will be distributed among 27 projects promoted by sixteen Mexican dioceses and religious congregations, which requested assistance in continuing to provide food, lodging, and basic necessities to the migrants,” according to (https://www.vaticannews.va/en/pope/news/2019-04/pope-francis-central-american-migrants-aid-peters-pence.html) Vatican News.
Peter’s Pence is a Catholic organization that collects and distributes donations. It is located in Vatican City. The charity scoffed at the United States for not allowing hordes of migrants to storm its borders.
“In recent months, thousands of migrants have arrived in Mexico, having travelled more than 4,000 kilometres on foot and with makeshift vehicles from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala,” the group said. “Men and women, often with young children, flee poverty and violence, hoping for a better future in the United States. However, the US border remains closed to them.”

The Catholic Church plans to use the money to house migrants in hotels, among other charitable works.
“All these people were stranded, unable to enter the United States, without a home or livelihood,” said a statement from the Vatican. “The Catholic Church hosts thousands of them in hotels within the dioceses or religious congregations, providing basic necessities, from housing to clothing.”
As the Catholic Church works to help migrants subvert American law, gridlock over border security persists in Washington, D.C.

Then you'll have those idiots that say, "Those walls were built hundreds of years ago. It's not like the current Pope recently had those wall erected."

All it does is show that the current Pope is a giant hypocrite. Its stupid stuff like this is why I became Agnostic.

Considering recentnly reported southern border migrants caravan related motivations of PA Synagogue shooter, caution should be used the way such news is presented. Drudge must have some good reason to make this into a top headline on the day of another Synagogue shooting in CA but such reports should not be overly sensationalized in the current atmosphere.

If this is confirmed, US Media/Foxnews will have to be more responsible in their coverage this time around.
While he still had the sole responsibility, it was reported that among other things following Foxnews reporting/photo of last caravan may have incited the suspected PA Synagogue shooter.

This came up in another discussion and may help explain Church's faith based motivations behind helping refugees in Europe.

Protestant Christians who make majority in the US tend to have slightly different attitudes towards mostly Christian refugees from south of the border.

On a related note, hopefully any Venezuela military intervention being contemplated through new US ambassador and Iraq refugees exodus war architect Elliot Abram would not create millions of new refugees south of the border.

Question will come up, what caused more refugees, a or b?
a) US taxpayers funded neocons wars
b) humanitarian help by Pope (who opposed Iraq invasion) for stranded refugees , Pentagon cooks' serving food to migrants at southern border

Pope Francis donates $500,000 to migrants at US border

By SOO YOUN Apr 27, 2019, 2:45 PM ET

Pope Francis donated $500,000 to Mexico-based projects to help migrant communities as media attention has faded, the Vatican said Saturday.

The funds will be distributed between 27 projects associated with 16 Mexican dioceses and congregations, all of which asked for help to continue providing food, lodging, and basic necessities to those fleeing their home countries through Mexico.

“In recent months, thousands of migrants have arrived in Mexico, having travelled more than 4,000 kilometers on foot and with makeshift vehicles from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala. Men and women, often with young children, flee poverty and violence, hoping for a better future in the United States. However, the U.S. border remains closed to them,” said a press release from Peter's Pence, the organization handling the funds.

Peter’s Pence's collections are funds earmarked "to provide the Holy Father with the financial means to respond to those who are suffering as a result of war, oppression, natural disaster, and disease," according to its website.

The money is specifically meant to aid the 75,000 migrants who arrived in Mexico in 2018 as part of six caravans, according to a press release from Peter's Pence.

“All these people were stranded, unable to enter the United States, without a home or livelihood. The Catholic Church hosts thousands of them in hotels within the dioceses or religious congregations, providing basic necessities, from housing to clothing,” Peter's Pence said.

The organization said the donations were currently needed because “media coverage of this emergency has been decreasing, and as a result, aid to migrants by the government and private individuals has also decreased."

Perhaps time for another meeting between MAGA and Pope to make a deal on this? Deal making skills should not be all spent on Dems and other foreign leaders.

Pope Francis has donated 500,000 dollars to assist migrants in Mexico. I am sure that is his personal money from his pocket. I am also sure that donation will cause a decline in his lifestyle.

The federal government kidnaps them and otherwise violates their rights, and at taxpayer expense.

The Church offers them much needed charity, compliments of donors.

Needless to say, libertarians ought to be cheering on the latter, not the former.
