take a look at this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milgram_experiment

then think about how the media works with politics and how our leaders speak to us. Its nothing new, just a clearer way to look at it.

Very interesting article...I have heard reports of german soldiers during hitlers regime that said they experienced heavy post traumatic stress symptoms mostly from doing things they knew were morally wrong out of fear of hitler, the same way our own soldiers did after coming home from vietnam

people should be teaching their children that if ever given an order from anyone even a parent that they feel is morally wrong or makes them uncomfortable they should question authority and ask why they are being told to do a certain task, speak out about how it makes them feel and discuss alternative options....parents actually teach their children to lie and steal not fully knowing what they are creating

this is also interesting in regard to media if you haven't already heard of it.

Damn, that picture pretty much hits the nail on the head.

For further study, read up on the Stanford Prison Experiment (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanford_prison_experiment).

Yeah, that picture is disturbingly right on. If only there were some easy way to snap people out of it for just long enough to take notice of Dr. Paul.

This explains the support of Giuliani by people I know to be otherwise conservative. Giuliani is (in their minds) authority. Also explains why so many Republicans support the war. Bush, to them, is the head of the party, the authority.

Interestingly, the Milgram experiment had an 85% "success" rate in Munich (with only ~65% in America). Milgram's female-only test produced the same results as his (primarily) male tests, while another similar test conducted afterwards had more women going through with the experiment (~77%, iirc).

Last month (June) my family had their annual summer vacation trip. My aunt and uncle live in New York City. I'd mentioned to my uncle a couple of months back that I had volunteered and was supporting Ron Paul for President. Both my aunt & uncle are liberals.

Well, on our family trip, while seated at the table with everyone around us, my uncle says to me, "I really like your Ron Paul guy"! I just can't begin to tell you how much that meant to me. In addition, Giuliani's name was brought up. My uncle chuckled and said, "the only reason people like Giuliani so much is they don't know what he's really like." I would expect that someone who lives and lived in New York under Giuliani's mayorship would know a few things about what he's really like.
