Caravan #5 coming.

San Pedro Sula (Honduras) (AFP) - Almost 1,000 people gathered Tuesday night in the town of San Pedro Sula in northern Honduras to form a new caravan to reach the United States, police said.

"There are more than 800, almost a thousand," a police official told AFP, with the Red Cross reporting the same number.

The caravan, which followed a call on social media, took the authorities by surprise after similar appeals since February failed to muster numbers.

Many families with children were among those gathered, and some have already started their journeys in crowded minibuses.

Alexis Perez, 27, said: "We are done with this government, there is no work."

Since October 13, when the first caravan of 2,000 set off, three other similar convoys of migrants have left Honduras for the US in search of work or fleeing drug-traffickers.

Caravan #5 coming.

This is at least Caravan #7 (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?529745-Caravan-3&p=6779770&viewfull=1#post6779770) , or even with a higher number.

Not sure if due to Wall funding shutdown or pressure on media following PA Synagogue shooting, media coverage has been sharply scaled down and other recent caravans were not given headline coverage even on Foxnews/Drudge etc.

Right, I heard he's going to ship all the illegals to sanctuary cities.

Notwithstanding the failure of El Jefe' Naranjo to do anything about this, would you be willing to admit that, now with more than five of these "caravans" heading to the border, in addition to the normal numbers that cross over every day, that what we are seeing is, in fact, an invasion?

That this is a well organized and deliberately planned action, and not just people "organically" deciding to haul ass northbound of their own accord.

Actually only one reportedly currently on its way of maybe 800- 1000 people. Trump said he turned back the last three. One broke up even before it reached the US border.

Even if that may be true in some cases, on the flip side controversial FLAT (Folds Like A Tent) narrative also does not help matters and goes too far.

Pentagon announces portions of the wall will be finished by October of 2020 (https://www.westernjournal.com/ct/pentagon-announcement-may-just-delivered-2020-trump-wall-construction-finished-oct-2020/)

Trump recently promised 400 miles of new wall by 2020.

1114223249917788160

This $1 billion of Pentagon funding is going to rebuilding old wall.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/border-wall-defense-department-awards-first-border-wall-contracts-using-diverted-funds/

According to a notice on the Pentagon's website, the Army Corps of Engineers awarded a $789 million contract to the company SLSCO Ltd., from Galveston, Texas, for "border replacement wall construction" in Santa Teresa, New Mexico. Barnard Construction Co. Inc., of Bozeman, Montana, was awarded a contract worth $187 million for "design-bid-build construction project for primary pedestrian wall replacement" in Yuma, Arizona.

Six companies submitted bids for the first contract, with three received for the second. Both projects are expected to be completed by fall of 2020.

The money was allocated by Congress to fight drug smuggling. Most drugs are smuggled in cargo though main ports of entry. The larger project calls for 57 miles of existing wall to be replaced and the second will replace 32 miles of existing pedestrian barriers.

At the end of March, the Pentagon transferred $1 billion from the Department of Defense’s counter-drug budget to the Corps to support the construction of 57 miles of 18-foot-tall pedestrian fencing, road improvements and lighting upgrades.

Also in November, CBP awarded Barnard a $324 million contract to build 32 miles of primary pedestrian replacement wall — 5 miles in Arizona and 27 miles in Arizona.

Now just 400 miles short of the promised 400 miles of new wall construction.

You said where the money came from and had to admit it wasn't all anti-drug money, the part about most drugs coming through ports of entry is also untrue.

I know your guidebook says don't worry about facts- especially those which contradict the point you hope to make, but:

AP FACT CHECK: Trump’s false claim about drug smuggling

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump has flatly contradicted his officials on how illicit drugs get into the U.S. and made a fanciful case that Mexico, without putting up a peso, is somehow paying for his proposed border wall.

TRUMP: “Remember drugs. The drugs are pouring into this country. They don’t go through the ports of entry. When they do, they sometimes get caught.” — Rose Garden news conference on Friday.

THE FACTS: He’s wrong in saying drug smugglers don’t or only rarely use official border crossings for their trafficking. Land ports of entry are their primary means for getting drugs into the country, not stretches of the border without barriers, says the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

The agency said in a November report that the most common trafficking technique by transnational criminal organizations is to hide drugs in passenger vehicles or tractor-trailers as they drive into the U.S. though entry ports, where they are stopped and subject to inspection. They also employ buses, cargo trains and tunnels, the report says, citing smuggling methods that would not be choked off by a border wall.
