Exit poll: Netanyahu losing Israel election (https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20190409-netanyahu-loses-israel-election-exit-polls-show/)

Incumbent Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has lost today’s general election to his biggest rival Benny Gantz.

Gantz has emerged victorious in the first exit polls, which survey voters but are not the final result. The exit polls have been known to change, but mark the first indication of voting patterns after the country’s polling stations closed at 22:00 local time [19:00 GMT, 20:00 BST].

In an i24 news poll, Benny Gantz’s Blue and White (Kahol Lavan) alliance received 33 seats, putting his party in first place, while Netanyahu has been placed second with 27 seats.

Meanwhile a poll by Israel’s Channel 12 put Gantz’s lead over Netanyahu even wider, predicting 37 seats for Gantz and 33 for Netanyahu.

Other shock results include the fact that two high-profile parties could be out of the Knesset and might have failed to pass the 3.25% minimum threshold needed. First is former Defence Minister Avigdor Lieberman’s Yisrael Beiteinu party, while the second is Education Minister Naftali Bennett and Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked’s New Right (Hayemin Hehadash) party.

Exit polls and analysis will continue throughout the night until the official results are announced in the early hours of the morning.

Polls have closed in Israel's national elections, with both incumbent Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his primary challenger, Gen. Benny Gantz, claiming victory, The Times of Israel reported April 9. Initial exit polls, however, indicated a close race.

The final vote count will not be finalized until April 11, and it may take additional months to form a new government in Israel's coalition-based political system.

Now let's see if he can actually do it. I'm sure they have deep state actors there also.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has won the Israeli national election, securing a record fifth term in office despite running neck in neck with his challenger Benny Gantz, the country's three main television channels said on Wednesday. With 97 percent of the votes counted, neither of the candidates' parties had captured a ruling majority, but Netanyahu was clearly in a strong position to form a coalition government with other right-wing factions that have backed him.

The veteran right-wing leader's Likud party and Gantz's new centrist Blue and White party both won 35 seats, according to the Knesset website and the Israeli TV channels. That would mean a five-seat gain for Likud.
"It is a night of colossal victory," the 69-year-old Netanyahu told cheering supporters in a late-night speech at Likud headquarters, while cautioning that a "long night and possibly day" lay ahead awaiting official results.
Fireworks flared behind him as his wife Sara applauded and kissed him. "He's a magician," the crowd chanted.
Final results were expected by Friday.
If he wins, Netanyahu, 69, will be on track to be the longest-serving prime minister in Israel's 71-year history. Netanyahu said he had already begun talks with prospective coalition allies.

A close result in the election would put smaller parties in a powerful position, turning marginal political figures into kingmakers.
Once the votes are tallied, President Reuven Rivlin will ask parties that have won parliamentary seats who they support for prime minister. He will then pick a party leader to try to form a coalition, giving the candidate 28 days to do so, with a two-week extension if needed.

MAGA lended a helping hand, that may have been a factor:

On the Eve of Israel’s Election, Netanyahu Thanks Trump for Sanctioning Iran at His Request (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?533329-On-the-Eve-of-Israel’s-Election-Netanyahu-Thanks-Trump-for-Sanctioning-Iran-at-His-Request&)

That said, some theories going around suggesting that both Netanyahu and MAGA were funded by same casino owner were quite reckless and US MSM has wisely not covered such controversial reports and memes. MAGA is very wealthy and doesn't need any Foreign-First lobbies money in order to put America-First, doesn't work that way.

One such recent meme that went too far and painted MAGA as a puppet of Netanyahu's funder:

The biggest losers on election night were the New Right party, which contains two former senior ministers, and the 'dark horse' Zehut party, run by a pro-cannabis libertarian, who both failed to garner enough votes to enter parliament.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continued celebrating his presumed victory as his centrist rival Benny Gantz said he “accepted the decision of the nation” following Tuesday’s general election.

“We will stand together,” Gantz, a former general, said according to The Jerusalem Post (https://www.jpost.com/Breaking-News/Benny-Gantz-and-Yair-Lapid-concede-defeat-to-Netanyahu-586419). “This is my first day of the next decade in which I will serve the people every way I can.”

Gantz did not call Netanyahu to concede, however. Netanyahu’s Likud party took about the same percentage of the vote as the Blue and White Alliance that backed Gantz. But Likud has enough allies in the Knesset, Israel’s national legislature, that Netanyahu can start forming a coalition government, reported USA Today (https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2019/04/10/israel-election-benjamin-netanyahu-benny-gantz/3420655002/).
Another Blue and White leader, Yair Lapid, promised to “embitter” the lives of Likud politicians until the next election, according to The Jerusalem Post.
“We are a ruling party with the will to win of a ruling party,” he said. “We won’t only go to the opposition. We are here to prepare for the next round. We tell the Likud we will embitter your lives. We will make the Knesset a battleground and show what a real alternative is. We have opened our campaign for 2020.”

A final count of election ballots on Thursday granted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party an additional seat in parliament, making it the largest faction in the Knesset and punctuating the Israeli leader's victory. The results released by Israel's central election commission showed Likud capturing a total of 36 seats in the 120-seat Knesset, compared to 35 seats for its main rival, the centrist Blue and White party. An earlier count had the two parties deadlocked.
Altogether, Likud and its traditional Jewish ultra-Orthodox and nationalist allies command a 65-55 majority in parliament, putting Netanyahu in position to head the next coalition government. On Wednesday, Blue and White's leaders conceded defeat.
The final count showed another nationalist faction, the New Right party of Education Minister Naftali Bennett and Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked, falling just short of the necessary 3.25% of the votes needed to get into parliament.
Although the ballot count is complete, commission head Hanan Melzer said the results were not official and still subject to review. He said final certified results are to be handed to the country's president next Wednesday.
New Right, which fell just a few hundred votes short of entering parliament, said it would challenge the count.
The results presented late Thursday did not significantly alter earlier results from Tuesday's election. They included a count of votes of soldiers, diplomats, prisoners and hospital patients who vote in unusual circumstances.
The only shift was that Likud picked up one seat from one of its traditional allies, the ultra-Orthodox United Torah Judaism.
The New Right had one of the most disappointing performances of the election. The pair of popular pro-settler ministers split from their religious-nationalist Jewish Home party and sought greater power by appealing to new secular voters. The maneuver backfired.
Netanyahu still managed to cruise to a relatively easy victory that secures him a fourth consecutive term in office, and fifth overall.
One of the major factors hastening Netanyahu's victory was the low voter turnout among Israel's Arab residents, which was below 50 percent.

Only a big push in the final hours of voting secured the survival of the two primary Arab parties. Still, they saw their representation dip.

This is a big win for MAGA's alleged Foreign-Firster political slave masters, as reportedly Bibi "Iraq War will be great" Netanyahu and MAGA are funded by same primo neocon (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?450257-The-Neoconservative-Reference-List&p=6729334&viewfull=1#post6729334).

Looks like more of the same from the Israeli front, then. How is it that Netanyahu is so popular?
