President Trump (https://thehill.com/people/donald-trump)'s nominee for the third highest position at the Department of Justice withdrew herself from consideration Thursday.

Instead of becoming the associate attorney general, Jessie Liu will instead become chairwoman of the Attorney General's Advisory Committee of United States Attorneys .
“Jessie Liu is one of the finest, most impressive people serving in the Department of Justice. She has been an outstanding United States Attorney and would have made an outstanding Associate Attorney General," Attorney General William Barr (https://thehill.com/people/william-barr) said in a statement.

Liu would have replaced Rachel Brand, who stepped down last year (https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/374117-rachel-brand-says-she-leaving-doj-because-she-couldnt-pass-up-top) to take a top legal position at Walmart.
It is not immediately clear who will fill that role instead.
