Food Stamp Usage Falls to 37 Million for First Time Since October 2009

Overall participation in America’s food stamp program fell to 37 million for the first time since October 2009, according to the latest statistics released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

The most recent USDA data revealed that 37,911,631 people received food stamps through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in December 2018, marking the lowest level of overall participation in the nation’s food stamp program in nearly ten years.

The last time overall participation in food stamps reached this level was in October 2009, when 37,672,818 people were on the government dole, according to USDA data.

Would be better to see it fall to it’s lowest level since 1960.

Geezy zippy, do u always have to rain on their damn parade? Btw all it takes to spike up again is another recession like we had in 07/08. Look at 2008 and then 2018, its looks like we have ways to g before we hit normal. At the rate its going, this won't happen till after Trump's second term :(

Obama will always be the food stamp president that hated americans so much he fined the ones too poor to afford health insurance .

You do know its also easier to lose weight when you are 800 lbs. This is what you don't see reading and bar graph like the one you posted

Put a trendline on that graph pre 2008 and you would see that the predicted rates in 2019 is a bit higher than what we have now. So essentaially, it is just going through a correction. This is one of the reasons why it would never come close to the 2008 levels
