View Full Version : PBS Ron Paul Phenomenon might not be on your local channel

devil21

I just checked and my local PBS channel (WTVI in Charlotte) does not have the NOW Ron Paul Phenomenon show scheduled to air Dec 14 at 8:30pm like the main PBS site states. Check your schedule and let your local channel know that they should carry it if they aren't!

http://www.pbs.org/stationfinder/stationfinder_relocalize.html

Considering how good the preview was it would be a shame for it to not be aired nation-wide.

EDIT: Make sure you check your ENTIRE channel lineup! Some places have multiple PBS stations.

EDIT: As a consolation, the PBS website will be streaming the program after it has aired at 8:30pm.

I just watched it. Overall, it was pretty good (RonPaulForums.com was shown twice!) and they mentioned the Tea Party. However, at the end they had some Columbia professor basically say that Ron Paul's ideas about welfare, etc. are unreasonable. He seemed to be under the impression that: a. RP'd abolish them all and b. states wouldn't be able to enact their own should they want.

Make sure you go through the entire channel line-up! If you have digital cable, do a show title search for NOW. I would have missed it if I hadn't done that. It's a decent piece overall except for the obligatory "he cant win" statement at the end.

The lady from the Dean campaign said at the end "he wont win", typical especially after they made a point earlier about how the media says things like that.

I don't know about other regions of NH, but 2 of these channels are Boston channels that get picked up in my area of southern NH.

On another note, where can I see the full video? At the NOW web site there's the seven minute preview that we've all seen, and an interview with a black woman.

Is this all there is?

I just saw this aired and thought it was well done. Good enough to be of "info-merical" quality, in fact. While it wasn't nonstop promotion of Ron Paul, the segment was not designed for that purpose.

I especially liked how the political analyst made some very good insights about the power structure and resulting effectiveness of the movement.

If people are receptive to the Ron Paul message and the Ron Paul candidacy, I felt that this segment gave the viewer the impression that:

1. Something special (and unique) is happening in this campaign
2. A brief flavor of the Ron Paul message
3. It's still growing
4. And you can find out more (at places like this forum!)

The poli science professor from Columbia discredits Paul about no safety net for those who can't be dependent on their own. Of course there is no counter-argument about how churches and charitable non-profit organizations would fill that need in a prosperous economy. Also, Paul said that he will allow those who are still dependent on govt programs to keep them on these programs and would even strengthen them by using the money saved from leaving Iraq to cut deficit and adding more $ to these programs.

Exactly what I thought. Allowing the states to handle welfare and other such issues would allow more fair and direct control of those funds but that question was not asked of the Columbia plant.
