Democrat Delegate Kathy Tran, who submitted the horrifying legislation that would have allowed babies to be murdered even after birth, also filed legislation to ensure the sanctity of life for “fall cankerworms.”
Tran filed “H.B. 2495 Fall cankerworm; spraying prohibited during certain months, (http://lis.virginia.gov/cgi-bin/legp604.exe?191+sum+HB2495)” a bill that would protect the lives of caterpillars and other insects during certain months, on the same day she filed “H.B. 2491 Abortion; eliminate certain requirements, (http://lis.virginia.gov/cgi-bin/legp604.exe?191+sum+HB2491)” the defeated legislation that would have made it legal for a new mother to give birth, then determine that she does not want the child and have it killed.
H.B. 2495 would protect the lives of gypsy moths, cankerworms, and other insects that may carry diseases harmful to humans, by preventing pest control spraying for them between the months of March and August.
Tran received nationwide backlash for her abortion legislation this week, and it was only escalated when Virginia Governor Ralph Northam endorsed the legislation, and described the bill further. Northam, who received nearly $2 million from Planned Parenthood (https://bigleaguepolitics.com/governor-who-endorsed-infanticide-received-2-million-from-planned-parenthood/?utm_source=srp002), suggested that a mother could give birth then determine she does not want to keep the child.

On very short notice, an estimated 750 Pro-Life citizens turned out to protest the legislative “town hall” scheduled by Virginia State Delegate Kathy Tran (D-VA-42). A large Catholic turn-out was joined by Northern Virginia Republicans determined to win back Tran’s seat later this year.

Delegate Tran’s district is mostly within Fairfax County, Virginia. She scheduled a “town hall” to meet with constituents at 1:00 PM today at the South County High School in Lorton, Virginia. But in the last 24 to 48 hours, word spread rapidly that opponents of abortion would show up at Tran’s town hall. The Susan B. Anthony List sponsored the protest, and a series of conservative leaders spoke, including Penny Nance, head of Concerned Women for America and Alison Centofante of Live Action.

However, as word spread, Tran cancelled her townhall. The purpose of the event of course was to hear from her Northern Virginia constituents. Tran ducked them instead. Tran was also scheduled to hold a joint town hall with Senator Scott Surovell (D-VA-36) at the “Workhouse Arts Center” on the Lorton border with Woodbridge. Tran went ahead with the second town hall, but getting the counter-demonstrating crowd to relocate was too difficult to attempt.
Because the townhall was cancelled, the protestors were not allowed into the school auditorium. The event spilled over onto the nearby intersection of major streets. Attendees filled all four corners of the intersection as well as the median strips in between.

The school parking lot was open and chock-filled with cars. Of the numbered parking spaces numbering up to 510, apparently not a single space was empty by the time the protest was getting underway. Others parked on side-streets. The” lead organizer” of the Northern Virginia Tea Party estimated the crowd at around 750, analyzing each section individually, based on his two decades of leading conservative activism and organizing many tea party events and demonstrations since 2009. The filled parking spaces — recognizing that some cars contained 2, 3, or 4 people each — suggest that Wilcox’s estimate is either accurate or perhaps low.

Speakers and attendees were concerned that Kathy Tran was not by any means acting alone. They stressed that although her extreme abortion bill was voted down in committee on a party-line vote, the Democrats are only just getting started and the issue will be coming back again and again until the Democrats make it the law of Virginia. The focus was on all of the Democrats responsible, not merely Tran.
Virginia holds State and local elections on off-years, which means the entire Virginia House of Delegates is up for re-election this November.

The Fairfax Republican National Committee led by Chairman Tim Hannigan put up its events tent by the side of the road alongside those with explicitly Catholic and other Christian denomination signs and beliefs.
The FCRC team reported that they signed up 100 new volunteers from the event because of the outrage and furor over the Democrats’ extreme agenda on abortion this year. Most asked about the cross-over felt that it is time for people who care about these issues to stop standing on the sideline.

The time for just watching is past. They must be part of the process and directly involved from now on. A hundred of them not previously in touch with the Fairfax County Republican Committee decided today was the day to take the plunge and get political about it.

Not really, anything less will only slow them down, if Q or something like it doesn't happen then we are doomed to struggle for control of the ashes in the hopes of rebuilding from the ground up.

Already, Northern Virginia Republicans are lining up to run against Delegate Kathy Tran (D-VA-42). Tran is the freshman Delegate who notoriously sponsored a bill in the Virginia House of Delegates to allow the killing of an unborn baby up to the moment of birth (https://bigleaguepolitics.com/nothing-is-too-extreme-virginia-lawmaker-proposes-abortions-on-delivery-table-governor-sees-no-issue/). The re-election of the entire Virginia House is happening this year, in November 2019. In 2017, Asian-American Tran won the 42nd district (https://fairfaxgop.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/2019-02-01-VA-42.png) previously held for 24 years by Republican Dave Albo — who retired — by defeating Republican Latina Lolita Mancheno-Smoak.
Republican Steve Adragna immediately began campaigning at Saturday’s pro-life protest at Delegate Tran’s legislative town hall at South County High School in Lorton, Virginia. While others are joining the race, Adragna jumped right in at the rally. (Rally organizers did not let him speak, presumably due to legal concerns when some of the groups are 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations.)
In an incredible development, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY)’s chief strategist, Doug Stafford, offered a “free campaign” to any Republican who would run against Delegate Tran (https://townhall.com/tipsheet/cortneyobrien/2019/02/01/heres-how-rand-pauls-chief-strategist-plans-to-boot-kathy-tran-from-office-n2540651).

While Virginia Republicans did not seem to need the encouragement to want to win back Tran’s district, the offer of assistance may open up the range of possible candidates to those who are not wealthy but qualified in other ways besides self-funding a campaign.

Doug Stafford tweeted on January 31, 2019 (https://twitter.com/dougstafford/status/1091002605810135042?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5 Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1091002605810135042),

“Anyone in Springfield Va area HD 42 want to run against this infanticide promoter and liar – DM me, I’ll run your race for free.”
While ‘free’ presumably means Stafford will not charge a salary for acting as campaign manager, this would still be a vast advantage — including because of the connections and instant credibility in fund-raising — for a candidate not already sitting on a massive warchest.

Will Steve Adragna (http://www.steveadragna.us/) be the best candidate to win back the seat? Northern Virginia Republicans are just beginning to grapple with a game plan. Businessman Adragna appears to describe himself (https://fairfaxgop.org/steve-adragna-to-run-for-house-of-delegates-in-the-42nd/) as a Republican centrist. With few details yet clear, it is possible that Adragna will appeal to some, while others might want more of a fighter, as the candidates present themselves in more detail. However, a candidate with the diligence and foresight to seize the moment and act quickly has much going for him.
Famous conservative (now former) Delegate Bob Marshall explained to Big League Politics that he and his wife Cathy are promoting a different candidate. The Marshalls also explained that Ken Cuccinelli, former Virginia Attorney General, is promoting yet another candidate. They reported hearing of several other candidates considering a challenge to now infamous Delegate Tran. However, none of this appears to be in response to any of the other candidates, but rather a spontaneous explosion of interest among other candidates. Most of these Republicans seem to be unaware as of yet that others are also running.
Bob Marshall explained that after decades in elected politics he is not interested in running again himself. However, Marshall told this writer that he would consider being a campaign manager or advisor for other, younger conservative candidates. Alongside Doug Stafford, Bob Marshall has intricate and intimate experience and knowledge of the local region, down to knocking on individual doors throughout most of the neighborhoods.

Big League Politics asked Tim Hannigan (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100008773117714), Chairman of the Fairfax County Republican Committee (https://fairfaxgop.org/), about a previous example when half-a-dozen conservatives were running against Sen. Joe May, perceived to be a “Republican In Name Only” (RINO). The conservatives met together and chose one of them as the best positioned candidate rather than dividing the vote. Hannigan responded that he would consider informally asking all of the candidates to meet privately together just to understand who all is running and to think about what is best for winning the seat back from the Democrats.
But such a discussion would be purely voluntary and purely for informational purposes. A party Chairman does not have authority to decide who wants to run. But events are happening so fast that most candidates are jumping in the race without knowing that other people are running. Therefore, many candidates may be running only because they don’t know who else is running, too. Hannigan does not have a position on any of the potential candidates. He just wants to see all Republicans energized to participate and for some Republican to win the district this November.

The late abortion legislation takes and even more sinister turn in VA. Their version of the law states the baby is legal property. Describes ownership of a human which could apply to all ages.
