Roughly 35 percent of transgender high school students attempted to kill themselves in a 12-month period, according to a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Just over one-third of transgender high schoolers — 34.6 percent — said they attempted suicide in a one-year span, according to the Friday report (https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/68/wr/mm6803a3.htm?s_cid=mm6803a3_e). Transgender students were also more likely to use drugs and engage in risky sexual behavior than their cisgender peers.
Transgender high schoolers were more likely to have had sex before they reached 13 years old. They also were more likely to report having four or more sexual partners. Using drugs and alcohol before engaging in sexual activity were also activities transgender high schoolers engaged in more frequently than their peers.
Transgender high school students are less likely to use protection as well.
Survey responses from 131,901 students in 10 states and nine different large urban school districts were used to form the CDC’s report. Data was collected in 2017 and then assessed.
Across states and school districts, 1.8 percent of high school students identified as transgender.
“This study is the first time this question [suicide attempts] was asked,” Caitlin Clark, a research associate at GLSEN, told NBC News (https://www.nbcnews.com/feature/nbc-out/two-percent-high-school-students-identify-transgender-cdc-report-finds-n962526).
The group conducts original research on LGBTQ issues in K-12 education, according to its Twitter (https://twitter.com/GLSENResearch).
“In order to make policy changes, we need to have hard numbers to point to,” Clark said.

A Swedish study says (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5649411/) transgender individuals undergoing gender affirmation surgery suffer suicide rates 19 times that of their peers.
Being transgender was formerly considered a mental health disorder until the World Health Organization (WHO) in June 2018 took gender dysphoria off the list (https://dailycaller.com/2018/06/19/world-health-organization-transgender-mentally-ill/) of disorders to be published in its upcoming report.

(CNN)The number of confirmed and suspected suicides in the active-duty Marine Corps reached a 10-year high in 2018 with 57 cases, according to new Marine Corps data obtained by CNN.

Another 18 Marines in the Reserve forces either are confirmed to have committed suicide or their deaths are being investigated as suspected suicides.

Marine Corps sources say the service is concerned that 2018 may have seen 75 suicides even with the extensive mental health programs available. Many of the cases are young Marines who have not deployed overseas and have not been in combat -- a situation that has been seen in other branches of the military as well.

"Don't make them just numbers," one Marine Corps official pleaded when making the data available to CNN.

The information came on the same day that the commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. Robert Neller, released a four-page message to the corps detailing new advances and developments. But near the end he spoke in detail about Marines taking their own lives and implored troubled troops to reconsider any drastic actions.

"I am personally compelled to say something about suicide and mental health," Neller said in the message. "If you need help, please ask/speak up ... we will be there for you. Consider the lasting impact on your family, friends, and unit -- none of whom will ever truly recover. Don't choose a permanent solution to a temporary problem that can be resolved with the help of your teammates."

So, tell a young man, who was just a boy, that he doesn't really know what sex he is, pump him full of drugs and hormones and then chop his dick off...and you wonder why he then attempts suicide?
