In dueling television addresses Tuesday night, Trump and the Democratic congressional leadership each made their cases, with the president arguing there is a “growing humanitarian and security crisis at our southern border” that would be eased by a barrier. Immediately following, Democratic Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer accused Trump of “forcing American taxpayers to waste billions of dollars on an expensive and ineffective wall.”

Trump, Schumer and Pelosi followed their televised appeals with a contentious meeting at the White House on Wednesday.

In an attempt at a compromise, Trump last week tapped Vice President Mike Pence to lead a team that included Kushner, the president’s son-in-law, to talk with a Democratic congressional delegation. The two groups met last weekend, but there was little progress.

Wall = Amnesty

"Wall" is a code word for Comprehensive DACA Immigration Reform, aka amnesty for illegal alien invaders. Or in President Trump's words "A Bill of Love". :bigpoo:

Trump dangles DACA program deal in exchange for border wall

The president previously said DACA should be excluded from talks of a southern border wall until the Supreme Court weighs in.

WASHINGTON — With no end in sight to the longest government shutdown, President Donald Trump dangled the prospect of a deal on the Obama-era DACA program in exchange for Democrats’ support for his $5.7 billion demand to build a southern border wall.

Trump took to Twitter on Sunday morning, accusing Democrats of not including the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals in ongoing negotiations to reopen the government, despite the president previously declaring the program, which grants temporary legal status to about 800,000 young immigrants, should be excluded from talks until the Supreme Court weighs in on the program.

Democrats are saying that DACA is not worth it and don’t want to include in talks. Many Hispanics will be coming over to the Republican side, watch!

Trump is exposing that the Demoncrats won't make ANY deal that includes any kind of real border security.

What he would actually agree to is an entirely different question.

WASHINGTON—President Trump is planning on Saturday to support protections from deportation for some undocumented immigrants in the U.S. in exchange for $5.7 billion to build the southern border wall, said White House officials familiar with the decision.
Mr. Trump is scheduled to make his announcement at 4 p.m. Aides cautioned that the announcement has already been delayed once by an hour, and that the president may still change his approach.

Is this even new? I thought Trump has said all along that he would support some kind of DACA as long as certain conditions like wall funding were met.
