Cher (https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/tagged/cher) wants the government shutdown to end — even if it means giving President Trump (https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/tagged/donald-trump) money for his border wall.
The legendary singer and outspoken liberal activist tweeted out her concerns for the American people if the shutdown remains in effect. Cher exclaimed on Wednesday, “FOR trump THIS IS POLITICAL..BUT REAL PPL ARE REALLY SUFFERING.” She called Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, (https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/tagged/nancy-pelosi) a “hero,” but added “LET HIM HAVE HIS FKNG MONEY.”

After President Trump requested $5.7 billion to fund the border wall he campaigned on in 2016, Democrats have dug in, refusing to appropriate the funds that the administration says are needed to better manage the flow of immigration across the southern border.
Democrats are not traditionally known for their fiscal rectitude but are being particularly parsimonious over what ultimately amounts to a very small percentage of the federal budget. (In 2018, the feds spent $4.173 trillion overall, meaning the border wall would amount to just 1/10th of 1 percent of current annual federal spending.)
Indeed, these lawmakers have happily funded various projects over the years that cost far more than the border wall — many of which had very questionable value. Below are some examples of wasteful federal spending projects that individually cost more than the proposed border wall (some data courtesy of Citizens Against Government Waste (https://www.cagw.org/reporting/2018-prime-cuts)):

“Rural Utility Service.” This program costs taxpayers $8.2 billion/year and has no actual purpose after its original intent — bringing electricity to rural communities — was long ago achieved. It’s now being used to bring broadband access to small communities (usually with populations of less than 20,000). However there’s no indication the “beneficiaries” of this expensive government agency actually appreciate the program and the majority of its projects are not completed on time or within budget.
Sugar Subsidies. America, as Democrats frequently intone, faces a health crisis. What they don’t tell us is that it’s largely of their own making, as Congress subsidizes the production of unhealthy foods like sugar and high-fructose corn syrup. Eliminating sugar subsidies alone would save $6 billion, enough to fund the border wall; it would also have the added benefit of helping curb the nation’s obesity epidemic.
Community Development Grants. These grants were created in the 70s to revitalize failing American cities. The program has almost always been plagued with dysfunction, with grants going to wealthy communities and other recipients failing to produce accountability or results. Citizens Against Government Waste reports that even President Obama called for reining in the program. It’s elimination would save $15 billion over 5 years.
The United Nations. As the United Nation’s largest contributor, the U.S. in 2016 donated $10 billion to the U.N. As CAGW notes, reducing these contributions just 25 percent would create a savings of $12.5 billion over 10 years. Of the money Congress appropriates for the United Nations, 5 million taxpayer dollars are itemized for abortions in foreign countries.
Amtrak. Congress could sell Amtrak to the private sector where it would almost certainly be operated more efficiently, but instead it’s showered in billions of dollars of taxpayer subsidies. Over the next five years, these subsidies will cost $9.7 billion.
Unused Real Estate. Congress appropriates money to maintain federal real estate that’s not actually being used. Per CAGW, an October 31, 2017, CRS report found that, “In FY2016, federal agencies owned 3,120 buildings that were vacant (unutilized), and another 7,859 that were partially empty (underutilized).” Current laws require the government to undergo a series of steps before considering a sale of these buildings. Were selling this unused property prioritized, the 5-year savings are estimated at $15 billion. Simply maintaining the unused buildings annually costs $1.7 billion.
Foreign Aid. American taxpayers currently spend more than (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_foreign_aid) $50 billion a year helping develop foreign countries. Many of the recipients are not known for being America’s closest allies — such as Egypt, South Sudan, Uganda, South Africa, Russia, the Congo, Sudan, and Zambia — which raises the question of what Americans are receiving in exchange for all of this aid. Cutting these donations back just 10 percent would be enough to fund the wall.
Waste, Fraud, and Abuse. The Government Accountability Office estimates taxpayers are spending more than $137 billion (https://www2.deloitte.com/insights/us/en/industry/public-sector/fraud-waste-and-abuse-in-entitlement-programs-benefits-fraud.html) annually on “payment errors,” which covers all manner of waste, fraud, and abuse within Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. The feds could implement the same kind of fraud protections credit card companies used to ensure against abuse, but don’t. In fact, Congress has gone in the opposite direction, winding down the program intended to police fraud within Medicare, the so-called Recovery Audit Contractor. In other words, Congress is knowingly funding tens of billions of dollars of fraud annually.

Despite many of of the above projects having arguably negative value, Congress continues to fund them. Eliminating any one of the above would create more than enough savings to fund the White House’s border wall appropriation request.

President Donald Trump is capable of building most or all of his southern border wall with the money the federal government spends giving tax refunds to illegal aliens.
The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration confirmed (https://seniorsleague.org/illegal-immigrants-received-4-2-billion-in-tax-refunds-from-irs/) that Additional Child Tax Credits for ITIN (the tax classification that illegal immigrants use) reached $4.2 billion in the year 2010, noting: “The payment of Federal funds through this tax benefit appears to provide an additional incentive for aliens to enter, reside, and work in the United States without authorization, which contradicts Federal law and policy to remove such incentives.”
Interesting. The number has almost certainly grown larger than $4.2 billion since 2010. Why? Because the IRS actively ignores warnings from the Social Security administration about illegal aliens using fake Social Security numbers.

Yup, they only want government to do the jobs it isn't supposed to do.

What They Will Fund
As the Office of Management and Budget noted (https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/SAP_HR21_HJRes1-1.pdf) of the Democratic spending bill passed in early January, “despite not meeting the minimum requirements identified by those who are directly responsible for the Nation’s border security, this package funds a number of unnecessary programs at excessive levels well beyond what was put forward in the FY 2019 Budget.”
The Democrats want “funding at levels nearly 20 percent higher than the President’s FY 2019 Budget,” the OMB reported.
Among the goodies the open-borders Democrats want are $12 billion more for international affairs programs, or 29 percent more than the president wanted. That includes $2.9 billion more for economic and development assistance to foreigners in the Middle East.
Why funding to Israel, Syria, and Pakistan is more important the security at the southern border of our own country is a mystery, as is the “$700 million more than requested for the United Nations, including restoring funding for the United Nations Population Fund.”
Of course, that funding contains money, OMB observed (https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/SAP_HR21_HJRes1-1.pdf), that would “undermine the President’s Mexico City Policy ... which prohibits the funding of foreign nongovernmental organizations that promote or perform abortions.”
The House bill also included “$2 billion in excessive Environmental Protection Agency funding, providing funds beyond the Agency’s core mission and including funding for programs that can and should be executed at the local level.”
More unnecessary — and blatantly unconstitutional — spending includes $7.1 billion for “rental assistance programs” in the Housing and Urban Development Department, itself a massive unconstitutional agency.
And those are just the worthless programs OMB mentioned.

Pelosi’s Lie
In her speech on Tuesday night that did not refute a single word of President Trump’s remarks (https://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/immigration/item/31144-dueling-border-speeches-trump-won-pelosi-and-schumer-lost) from the Oval Office, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi claimed (https://www.politico.com/story/2019/01/08/pelosi-schumer-trump-response-immigration-1088722) that he will not agree to a bill to reopen the government “over his obsession with forcing American taxpayers to waste billions of dollars on an expensive and ineffective wall.”
If the wall would be ineffective, perhaps Pelosi and her partner in immigration crime, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, can explain why Israel built a (very effective) wall, and why Democrats continue voting to send foreign aid to Israel given that walls are a “waste” and “ineffective.”
And perhaps they can explain why they are “forcing American taxpayers to waste billions of dollars on ... expensive and ineffective” programs that benefit no one.
They can’t. And won’t.
They have two priorities, the first of which is sending tax money to their coalition of angry, anti-American special interests.
But the second, and more important to the wall debate, is this: Keeping the borders open to bring in future Democratic voters.

I have tremendous sympathy for people less fortunate struggling to pay bills. But does any government worker not get EXTREMELY good benefits and a liveable wage.
These MSM sob stories are ridiculous. They listed what a low end worker makes as if they was supposed to impress me by how low it was. My first thought was it was more than 90% of people in Mexico make.

I saw this pop up on my Twitter feed this morning. I'm sorry if missing a few weeks of work causes you problems making your LEXUS payments.

Some Congressional Democrats are coming around to the idea of funding a southern border wall as the partial government shutdown drags on, with Rep. Collin Peterson (D-Minn.) saying Tuesday that Democrats should vote to "Give Trump the money," according to The Hill (https://thehill.com/homenews/house/426467-dem-lawmaker-calls-on-democrats-to-give-trump-the-money-for-border-wall).
"I'd give him the whole thing ... and put strings on it so you make sure he puts the wall where it needs to be," Peterson told KFGO-TV (https://kfgo.com/news/articles/2019/jan/22/peterson-says-democrats-should-give-trump-the-money-for-border-wall/). "Why are we fighting over this? We're going to build that wall anyway, at some time."
Peterson expressed concerns about giving President Donald Trump a "blank check," but said he didn't want to keep the money from him "if he's going to use the money correctly." He also said Democrats "look at me cross-eyed" when he brings up the idea.

Pop icon Cher has suddenly had a dramatic change of heart on mass immigration after President Trump threatened to dump illegals in the “sanctuary city” where she lives.
Imagine my shock.
On Friday, Trump said his administration was considering the idea of releasing immigrants into sanctuary cities, partly in retaliation to Democrats’ support for open borders.
Previously, Cher had demanded, “Anyone who can must take a dreamer in2 their home & protect them!! I’m ready 2 do this & others in my business will do the same!! Sanctuary.”

However, she rapidly reversed her feelings on the matter following Trump’s threat to place those “dreamers” in her city.
In a tweet posted Sunday, Cher said, “I understand helping struggling immigrants but my city (Los Angeles) isn’t taking care of its own.”
She went on to urge that more focus be put on native homeless people than illegal immigrants.
Wow, it’s almost like Cher’s concern for illegal immigrants suddenly disappeared when she feared there could be a deluge of them in her own back yard!
