Former Republican U.S. Representative Mia Love announced on Monday that she will be joining CNN as a commentator and made her first appearance on "New Day," in which she criticized the Trump administration's handling of the shutdown.

“A new year brings new opportunities for elevated conversations about issues that matter,” Love tweeted. “My time in Congress has ended but the chance to engage Americans is only the beginning - I’m excited to join CNN to offer a different principled and unleashed perspective.”

In her first CNN appearance as a commentator, she was introduced on CNN’s "New Day," where she discussed everything from the new Congress to the government’s partial shutdown.
Love said her new role allows her to have more time and “no restraints.”
“I say unleashed, and being able to just go out and speak your mind and actually get things done by getting the American public involved,” she said.
About the shutdown, Love said it was “set to fail right when it started.”
“People in a room, you have a president that says: ‘If you don’t give me a wall, I will own the shutdown.’ Of course, I thought the Democrats were like, ‘Great take it, deal done. We don’t have to give you a wall and you can own the shutdown,’” Love said. “There was no leverage, there was nothing that would even set the precedent for a really good deal or compromise. In Congress — in the House, we actually had a pretty good comprehensive bill that had a border wall, it had border security, it had helping people at the borders, helping families stay together at the borders, it had a fix for DACA, which is something that we have worked together as a daughter of parents who immigrated to this country, this has been very important to me and getting Republicans to get along with that. We actually had a really good comprehensive bill that we couldn’t get through.”

And another neocon/teocon comes out of the closet. Has there been a true, new Tea Party candidate that has won since 2014 when Dave Brat first won office?

Vetting is hard work to discover the stealth RINOs and neocons. Bill Kristol is pretty clever these days, and they often scrub the connections before elections.

Ben Sasse is another example.

I sent a note over to TNA suggesting anything under a 90% should be labeled RINO, NEOCON, Democrat, ascertaining by recorded votes which would apply to the label.

I’m good with the way it currently is because I read in-depth but I’m sure some folks just skim through.

Because we aren't racists.....that's all I got.

That and I hate Democrats.

You had all 3 branches for 2 years. You couldn't get through it despite promising you would when the first budget was crammed through. But he's at fault somehow here.

Your way supports a long time democrat who is now president, who gave hundreds of thousands to the Clinton Foundation and Federal Democrats, tries under his breath, and over it, to Disarm the people, signs with his pen an agreement to have United Nations and International Labour Organization (USMCA) decide the fate for business owners not only here but in other countries, and wants to take Private Property away from over 3 million residents and business owners and give it all to the FED. Obama didn’t succeed enough in the largest land grab of any president in history, trump the real estate magnate wants over 2,000 miles, by force if necessary, which will upset a $1 Billion per-day economy, plummet property values, devistate communities, cause bankruptcies and potentially drive those who become unemployed onto government assist.

You ignore everything he and this WH are doing to promote this New World agenda screaming MAGA.

TDS strikes again.

how's your way working out, little one. i can see why you're so angry. Never winning a single thing gets old. sorry sweetie but your philosophy doesn't pay my bills. That holds true for both you and her.

Point remains, CONGRESS failed to deliver on their compaign promises. Blaming any president for not advancing legislation is delusional.

And by the way, stop pretending you know anything about me.

No dispute. However presidents do “set the tone” for the American people. Those who “trust” in him anyway. Case in point.

If you look at the example you threw in, which is privatizing government land....I'd prefer to see it go back to the private sector. I don't want my state owning all the land either. I'd rather have a job in a privately held mining company than a chance to buy a $10 annual pass to the King's Land when I make my annual road tithe, but that's just me.

My grandparents lived in Chillicothe Ohio. There was a Mead paper mill there. They had awesome public recreational facilities on their property.

Reality on display in your post and can be applied in so many discussions. People are so damn conditioned to reply in a certain way as purists with their ideology yet the world simply does not work that way. They lose sight of reality that people make decisions based on their financial interests. Not some mythical future of what we want the world to be like and losing sight of what is actually possible in the real world.

All too often people have no idea about the people they are replying to and make assumptions based on how they have been conditioned to respond.

Out of rep. +1.
