Another migrant caravan — this one estimated at 15,000 people — is preparing to leave Honduras on Jan. 15, according to migrant rights advocates and Spanish-language media.

“They say they are even bigger and stronger than the last caravan,” said Irma Garrido, a member of the migrant advocacy group Reactiva Tijuana Foundation.[sic]

Garrido said this new, larger caravan will probably be joined by more people in El Salvador and in Guatemala, but she said they don’t plan on coming straight to the Tijuana-San Diego border, where resources are already stretched nearly to a breaking point.

“They will stay in the south of Mexico in Chiapas and Oaxaca. Their aim is to request work there,” she said.[sic]

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has pledged visas and work in Mexico for Central American migrants. In his inauguration speech, he pledged public works projects such as planting 2 million trees and construction of his Maya Train, which will link cities in the three Yucatan peninsula states as well as Tabasco and Chiapas. The $8-billion project is expected to create hundreds of thousands of jobs in the southern states of Mexico.[sic]

On Facebook, reaction in Chiapas to news of a second caravan was not all favorable.

“Well, now the government does something. That work is for Mexicans that need it,” said Anna Pérez from Palenque, Mexico, on Facebook. “Opportunistic people who just want to take advantage of the Mexicans.”[sic]

In Tijuana, the presence of Central American migrants has sparked protest and even violence.

Last week, two people threw a canister of tear gas into Tijuana’s El Barretal shelter, Mexican federal police said.

On Dec. 15, two Honduran teenagers were viciously beaten, tortured and killed by low-level members of the Jalisco New Generation cartel, highlighting the dangers for unaccompanied minors in the caravan.

After the teenagers’ deaths, the Consulate of Honduras issued a warning: “We reiterate the call to Honduran nationals that they not risk their lives and the lives of their families on the dangers that the migratory route represents, where migrants are exposed to being victims of traffickers.”

Thousands remain stuck in Tijuana, a city with more than 2,000 homicides this year, leaving the Central American migrants almost as vulnerable as they were grappling with the gang violence that caused them to flee their homelands.[sic]

If this is confirmed, US Media/Foxnews will have to be more responsible in their coverage this time around.
While he still had the sole responsibility, it was reported that among other things following Foxnews reporting/photo of last caravan may have incited the suspected PA Synagogue shooter.

Incredible, read Foxnews was being attcked by some in media for concentrating 90%~ of the "Caravan outrage" coverage to few weeks just before midterms and not spreading it around to cover other caravans.

Such fearless leader has emerged because he was self-funded (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?529777-Graham-pushing-Trump-on-Syria&p=6728277&viewfull=1#post6728277), otherwise you may have got another fake showbiz artist, puppet/political slave of lobbyists, specal interests etc. Media doesn't give him enough credit for that genuine achievement.

BTW, is that 2nd amendment liberty defending machine in his hand bump stock (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?529387-Trump-demands-you-turn-over-your-bump-stocks&p=6721855&viewfull=1#post6721855) compatible?

Here we go again as Chiacgo faces bone chilling -70 degree cold windshield:

AL GORE: Migrant Caravans Are Victims Of Global Warming

01/24/2019 Michael Bastasch

Former Vice President Al Gore said the recent Central American migrant caravans seeking asylum in the U.S. were fleeing the ravages of global warming.
Gore said the so-called “dry corridor,” which includes El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras, “is the most vulnerable region in the world to global warming.”
“And they’ve gone without a harvest this year. Some have gone without a harvest for two years,” Gore told (https://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2019/01/23/al-gore-amanpour.cnn) CNN’s Christiane Amanpour in an interview Wednesday. “That is one of the principal causes for them making that long journey.”
Thousands of Central American migrants have joined caravans headed for the U.S.-Mexico border in order to seek asylum. Most experts see them as economic migrants, coming to the U.S. for work, not fleeing global warming.

This isn’t the first time Gore linked global warming to recent migrant caravans. In December, Gore called the caravans a “recent, startling example” of global warming (https://dailycaller.com/2018/12/18/al-gore-migrant-caravan-global-warming/) forcing people to flee their homes.

However, Gore is not the first to label the caravans “climate refugees.” It’s part of a broader media narrative (https://dailycaller.com/2018/10/31/media-caravan-global-warming/) to link the thousands joining U.S.-bound caravans to global warming.

For example, The Guardian ran a story (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/oct/30/migrant-caravan-causes-climate-change-central-america?CMP=share_btn_tw) in October citing alleged experts who “say the big picture is that changing climate is forcing farmers off their land and it’s likely to get worse.”

That same month, The Huffington Post said the migrant caravan “foreshadows (https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/trump-migrant-caravan-climate-change_us_5bd3374ee4b0d38b5882f000)” what’s to come with global warming. And E&E News called (https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/caravan-provides-a-preview-of-climate-migrations-experts-say/) the caravan a “preview of climate migrations,” that is, people driven from their homes due to man-made global warming.

Migrant mini-caravan breaches border near site of Trump wall rally

By Stephen Dinan -
The Washington Times - Tuesday, February 12, 2019

Hours after President Trump appeared in El Paso Monday at a rally to demand border wall money, a massive group of illegal immigrants breached the border a few miles away.

Border Patrol agents say 311 migrants strolled around the end of the border fence in Sunland Park, New Mexico, and walked into the U.S., where they were arrested just before midnight.

Almost all of them were families or unaccompanied alien children (UAC) from Central America, part of a stream of mini-caravans who have traversed Mexico over the last year, finding holes in American border security.
A group of congressional Democrats visited the location last weekend as part of a fact-finding border mission. Led by Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer, they returned to say that while they saw “challenges,” there was no “crisis” that required more fencing.

Also over the weekend, a group of pro-Trump activists stood along the border as a human wall, apparently following a presidential tweet suggesting that people could take the place of actual fencing if Congress didn’t pony up the money for a barricade.

“Why would you [vote for him again]?” the provocative author and columnist asked during a Daily Caller interview on Dec. 20. “To make sure, I don’t know, Ivanka [Trump] and Jared [Kushner] can make money? That seems to be the main point of the presidency at this point.”

“They’re about to have a country where no Republican will ever be elected president again,” she added. “Trump will just have been a joke presidency who scammed the American people, amused the populists for a while, but he’ll have no legacy whatsoever."

President* Trump Made President Hannity and President Coulter Very Mad

Nothing gets them going like the Big, Beautiful, Stupid Wall.

Charles P. Pierce
Feb 12, 2019

On Tuesday night, just as the president* was beginning his warm bath in the sour dreams of his acolytes in El Paso (https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/a26303263/trump-supporter-attack-bbc-journalist-maga-hat/), the bipartisan congressional delegation tasked with striking some sort of deal on border security in order to avoid another government shutdown on Friday announced that it had struck an agreement in principle. This development seemed to strike the president* even more deeply into incoherence than is customary for him.

The deal itself is another abject surrender on the president*'s most basic campaign promise: a big, beautiful, stupid wall for which Mexico will pay. It calls for $1.3 billion for border fencing, subject to local environmental and community concerns. That'll buy him 55 miles of new border fencing—not a wall, not even close—and that's 10 miles less than he would've gotten had he agreed to the deal from last summer that he ultimately torpedoed.

The most important consequence of the announcement is that the country's several other presidents (https://www.newsweek.com/trump-fox-news-border-wall-hannity-ingraham-1327527) went out of their tiny minds. President Hannity actually cut away from the El Paso rally to call the deal a "garbage compromise." President Ingraham and President Dobbs also went into orbit. And the gibbering primates of the House Freedom Caucus screeched and howled and flung poo all around the electric Twitter machine.

Trump threatens to close border for 'long time'

Published March 29, 2019

President Donald Trump threatened on Friday to close the U.S. border with Mexico next week, or at least large sections of it, if Mexico "doesn't immediately stop all illegal immigration coming into the United States" from the region.

Hundreds in Honduras set out in new U.S.-bound migrant caravan in face of Trump border-closing threat

SAN PEDRO SULA, HONDURAS - Hundreds of Honduran migrants, many carrying young children, set out in a caravan for that country’s border with Guatemala on Wednesday, hoping to reach the United States.

Some of those who gathered at the San Pedro Sula bus station said they can’t support their families with what they can earn in Honduras and are seeking better opportunities.

Most boarded buses before dawn that would carry them to towns on the Guatemalan border. Others walked through the rain, some pushing strollers or carrying sleeping children in their arms.

Guatemalan immigration authorities said that their Honduran counterparts informed them that about 1,100 migrants were headed for their common border, mostly aboard buses to two crossing points. They said some were already crossing into Guatemala.

Nohemy Reyes, who waited at the bus station with one of her five children sleeping on floor beside her, said her country’s economic straits are driving her north.

“The economic situation is very difficult,” she said. But if she finds the U.S. border closed, she said, she will return to Honduras.

U.S. President Donald Trump this week threatened to close the U.S.-Mexico border before changing course and threatening tariffs on automobiles produced in Mexico if that country does not stop the flow of Central American migrants.

U.S. border facilities have been overwhelmed by the number of migrant families. U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced this week that 53,000 parents and children were apprehended at the southern border in March.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen resigned this week and was replaced by U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Kevin McAleenan in an acting capacity.

Trump on Tuesday said he isn’t planning on reinstating his controversial family separation policy. Last summer, more than 2,500 children were separated from their families before a judge ordered them reunited.

The caravans became a popular way of making the trek because the migrants find safety in numbers and save money by not hiring smugglers.

In late March, Mexico’s interior secretary warned that the “mother of all caravans” was forming. That did not materialize, but Central American officials criticized the announcement, saying it could inspire migrants to merge into another caravan.

Miguel Angel Reyes of San Juan Pueblo, Honduras, said his country’s violent crime was one factor in his decision to leave, but mostly he was looking for a way to provide for his wife and four children.

“I’m going because the situation is really hard here in Honduras,” said the field worker. “We can’t take it anymore. There’s a lot of suffering, no work.”

Asylum seekers are not sneaking across the border through unsecure points of entry. They are going to major points of entry and asking for asylum- seeking out, not avoiding, the border patrol. They are not sneaking across and they are not entering illegally. Trump wants to make what is currently perfectly legal illegal- they are trying to get in before that happens.

We need either a change in asylum laws or more asylum judges to solve the problem- more wall and more guards will not solve it.

They are crossing illegally and then claiming asylum when they are caught.
They also have no legitimacy to their asylum claims.

Nope... No problem anywhere but the ports of entry. The whole bottom third of Arizona has these signs.

False. More good key words from the guidebook though. Courts will decide if their claims are legitimate- if not, they get deported. The problem is not enough judges to hear those cases- there are over a million cases currently backlogged. Less than 15% get approved.

The majority of asylum-seekers from Central America surrender to U.S. Border Patrol agents in order to begin their asylum process – making them ill-advised company for criminals, said Jennifer Harbury, a civil rights attorney who works with the migrants.

"Why on Earth would they do that?" she said of the likelihood that criminals are using migrants to enter the U.S. "It's the same as turning yourself in."

Asked about the need for troops to combat the refugees, she added, "It's fairy-tale stuff."

https://www.cnn.com/2018/04/29/americas/migrant-caravan-us-border-crossing/index.html

It is not illegal to enter the country at a port of entry and ask for asylum, as international law requires that the United States consider asylum claims. The migrants say they're not planning to sneak across the border, but to turn themselves in peacefully and ask for asylum.

In general, having asylum granted is difficult. More than three-quarters of immigrants seeking asylum from El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala between 2011 and 2016 lost their cases, according to immigration court statistics published by Syracuse University's Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse.

False. More good key words from the guidebook though. Courts will decide if their claims are legitimate- if not, they get deported. Less than 15% get approved.
Then less than 15% were legitimate, and that is if you count all of the claims the courts accept even though the courts accept too many.

They surrender when they are caught.

More than 400 migrants cross border, surrender to Border Patrol in El Paso's Lower Valley

More than 400 undocumented immigrants on Monday crossed the border to surrender to the U.S. Border Patrol in El Paso.

A group of men, women and children surrendered to agents along the Rio Grande levee next to the border fence in the Riverside area of the Lower Valley, said Agent Fidel Baca, an agency spokesman.

The group was the latest in an increase in recent weeks of groups of large number of migrants crossing the Texas border to turn themselves in in a bid for political asylum.

Trump administration settles lawsuit, paving way for 3,000 Central American children to reunite with families

Christal Hayes, USA TODAY Published 7:54 p.m. ET April 12, 2019

WASHINGTON – The Trump administration settled a federal lawsuit on Friday that could pave the way for thousands of Central American families to reunite with their families in the U.S., according to federal court documents.
The lawsuit, filed in San Francisco, challenged the ending of the Central American Minors program, which helped minors from El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras gain entry into the U.S. for refugee resettlement. The program, which was started in 2014, was ended under President Donald Trump in 2017. The program's ending left nearly 3,000 children in limbo as they had already been approved for the program but had not yet gained entry into the U.S.

MAGA & his son-inlaw's deal making with MX seems to be working:

Mexico works to deter new migrant caravan heading north to U.S. border

UPDATED 6:14 AM PT – Wednesday, April 17, 2019

Authorities are blocking U.S. bound migrants from entering a Southern Mexican city. The Central American caravan moved through the southern state of Chiapas Tuesday before they were stopped in the town of Huixtla.

Although many are held outside the town waiting to gain access, reports have suggested the process is slow.

“The truth is we are not getting any answers. We are not advancing. They tell us to wait, and sometimes they tell us to go back. Honestly, it’s not fair to have us waiting.” — Tania Vazquez, Honduran migrant

The municipality declared an emergency earlier this week as people continue to pour into the town. Officials claimed the majority of the caravan did not come peacefully, and urged business owners to close their shops and advised townspeople to remain indoors.
Huixtla officials attempted to block the upcoming surge from entering, and even offered shelters further away. However, some managed to push past the police to take shelter in the town center. 5,000 migrants are still making their way to Huixtla by walking along highways.

FBI arrests alleged member of armed group stopping migrants in New MexicoApril 20, 2019, 5:43 PM EDT

"This is a dangerous felon who should not have weapons around children and families," Balderas said in the statement. "Today's arrest by the FBI indicates clearly that the rule of law should be in the hands of trained law enforcement officials, not armed vigilantes."
The FBI Albuquerque division said that Hopkins, who is also known as Johnny Horton Jr., was arrested with the assistance of the Sunland Park Police Department.
The FBI said he was arrested on a federal complaint charging him with being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition. It was not immediately clear what the underlying conviction was.

1,036 migrants, with 63 unaccompanied children, become largest single group ever taken into custody at southern border

by Anna Giaritelli
| May 30, 2019

The group included 63 children traveling without a parent or guardian. Another 39 people were single adults, and the remaining 934 claimed to be traveling with a family member, according to a report. Guatemalan citizens made up just over half the detainees. The rest are primarily from other Central American countries, including Honduras and El Salvador.

It's not clear if the group came from Northern Triangle countries as part of a caravan, though it's not likely, given no news of a convoy traveling through Mexico. Border Patrol has said human smugglers often oversee the movement of migrants at the border and use the groups to distract federal law enforcement while they move narcotics or people hoping to avoid arrest over unmanned parts of the border. Smugglers charge migrants an average of $5,000 to $8,000 each to get to the United States.

Lindsey Graham Says Iran, Syria Terrorists Can 'Easily' Cross U.S. Border with Central American Migrants

South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsey Graham claimed it was "so easy" for terrorists from the Middle East to join up with Central American migrants and cross through Mexico and into the U.S. through the southern border.
Graham said every person detained at the Texas border facility visited by Vice President Mike Pence earlier this week had been captured and that many of those several hundred arrests included criminals. MEXICO CITY (AP) — Under threat of crippling U.S. tariffs, Mexico said Friday it had reduced the flow of migrants arriving at its northern border by 56% in three months.

Foreign Secretary Marcelo Ebrard said he believes Mexico's strategy of cracking down on illegal migration with a National Guard deployment, investment in Central America and allowing the U.S. to make more asylum seekers wait in Mexico is enough to avert President Donald Trump's threat to impose tariffs on all Mexican imports.

Ebrard is scheduled to meet with U.S. officials Tuesday at the White House to review the progress.
"We're showing that the strategy that Mexico put forward has been successful," Ebrard said. "I don't expect a tariff threat Tuesday because it wouldn't make sense."
Using U.S. Customs and Border Protection data, Ebrard said the number of migrants apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico border in August was 63,989, down from 144,266 in May. Ebrard's numbers include those who presented themselves at U.S. ports of entry and were deemed inadmissible.

The administration still has yet to fence in any new miles of border with President Trump’s wall, a top Homeland Security official acknowledged Thursday — though he said that’s not the right way to look at the problem.

Acting Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Mark Morgan told reporters that 78 miles of wall has been erected under Mr. Trump, but all of it has replaced outdated fencing or barriers that had previously existed.

None of it has blocked off a portion of the border where there wasn’t previously some type of barrier.

LOL

That's been debunked already.

Replacing barbed wire fences and "vehicle barriers" with Trump's wall IS new WALL.

And they have been building wall in areas that had nothing before for some time now.

They did break up the most recent caravan.
This thread is an old thread about an old caravan that e_d bumps because he thinks it is somehow bad for Trump and is part of his troll bump regimen.

Trump in private meeting with donors: “This whole caravan is a positive thing because it’s showing people how crazy it is”
Jan 25, 2020
President Trump spent months publicly railing about a caravan of migrants working its way up from Central America. His fear-mongering on the issue, relentless coverage from Fox News and a heavy ad campaign from the GOP amounted to the Republican Party’s closing message of the 2018 campaign. During this dinner, just months before those elections, he made clear he was privately cheering it.

Some Far Right onservatives may see this again as a conspiracy for politics but in reality MAGA theory on crazy display is getting confirmed yet again:

8,000 migrants in 'Devil's Route' caravan prepare to storm Mexican border from Honduras

Massive Central American caravan hopes to cross through the Guatemala-Mexico border this weekend
Migrants looking to seek asylum from the United States set out from San Pedro Sula, Honduras, and were scheduled to meet a larger contingent in El Salvador
It the second time in January that migrants challenge the Mexican's government refusal to grant them unrestricted passage to the United States border
More than 2,000 asylum seekers were deported from Mexico and Guatemala last week after a caravan of 4,000 plus reached Guatemala on January 14 and 15
The Trump administration has enforced its policy for migrants seeking refuge since the first migrant caravan formed in late 2018

At least 8,000 asylum seekers from Central America, including many who were deported last week, will test Mexico's refusal to grant them unrestricted passage towards the United States by attempting to cross the border into the country yet again.
Hundreds of migrants gathered Thursday in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, and departed early Friday after word spread through Facebook channels and WhatsApp chain messages during the beginning of the week. The caravan is expected to be made up of at least 8,000 people.
The group was set to meet up with other refuge seekers in El Salvador to continue the 'Devil's Route' through Guatemala before an anticipated showdown with Mexican security forces at the border.

Interesting wording but yea fakenews has been known to be silent selectively. Maybe they don't see it as a 'positive development'.

Tweet was from 2018. On one hand he said the wall was secure and yet he also claimed that it was porous and open. He likes to contradict himself.

Since he frequently contradicts himself his statements can't be trusted at all, you have to watch his actions to even guess about his positions or plans.

To be fair, that is a known personality trait of his...some of his purist supporters even got upset over it.
