Facebook is now facing a boycott from the NAACP, which is the latest in a trend of ideologically-diverse groups moving away from the embattled social media giant.
The NAACP said it was launching its #LogOutFacebook campaign due to – but not limited to – Facebook’s “privacy mishaps” and the “lack of employee diversity” in Silicon Valley.
“Over the last year, NAACP has expressed concerns about the numerous data breaches and privacy mishaps in which Facebook has been implicated,” wrote (https://www.facebook.com/naacp/photos/a.10152250806098947/10155988460848947/?type=3&permPage=1) NAACP President Derrick Johnson. “And since the onset of the Silicon Valley boom, we have been openly critical about the lack of employee diversity among the top technology firms in the country.”
“Now, the time has come for our collective actions to emulate the severity of mistrust we have in Facebook.”
