Former CIA Director Gen. Michael Hayden was hospitalized this week after suffering a stroke, according to a statement from his foundation.
The Michael V. Hayden Center for Intelligence, Policy, and International Security on Friday said on behalf of Hayden's wife and family that Hayden suffered the stroke earlier in the week at his home, while offering few other details.
"He is receiving expert medical care for which the family is grateful," the center said in a statement (https://haydencenter.gmu.edu/news/Statement-Regarding-General-Hayden). "As General Hayden begins the healing process, the family requests that their privacy be respected. The General and his family greatly appreciate the warm wishes and prayers of his friends, colleagues, and supporters."
Hayden, 73, served in the U.S. Air Force before later serving as head of the National Security Agency (NSA) and as former President George W. Bush's director of national intelligence.
