Ocasio-Cortez Reacts to Climate Change Report: ‘People Are Going to Die’

23 Nov 2018

On Friday, Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) reacted to a report from the federal government on climate change and called on the United States to address the matter, saying, “we must make it urgent.”

In the tweet sent to her 1.30 million followers, Ocasio-Cortez once again called for Congress to create a special committee focused on issues surrounding climate change.

“People are going to die if we don’t start addressing climate change ASAP,” she wrote. “It’s not enough to think it’s ‘important.’ We must make it urgent.”

“That’s why we need a Select Committee on a Green New Deal, & why fossil fuel-funded officials shouldn’t be writing climate change policy,” she added.

The report stated, “Climate change threatens to exacerbate existing social and economic inequalities that result in higher exposure and sensitivity to extreme weather and climate-related events and other changes.”

This month, Ocasio-Cortez joined a group of youth climate change protesters who gathered at the office of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

Ocasio-Cortez applauded the young activists as she spoke to them briefly about “how proud” she was of the “incredibly important” work they were doing.

I can remember as a kid, the "settled science" said the US would run out of commercially viable petroleum by 2000.

Gasoline is now cheaper than it was in 1965 and the US is the largest producer of petroleum in the world.

If she's so worried about people dying it might behoove her to look into the usual results of that socialism stuff she's so keen on. Just a thought.

Macron has so far held strong and insisted the fuel tax rises are a necessary pain to reduce France’s dependence on fossil fuels and fund renewable energy investments — a cornerstone of his reforms of the nation. He will defend fresh plans to make the “energy transition” easier next week.

And they did the same thing in Kalifornia.

And they will do the same thing nationally.

The New Bolshevik Congress will pass crippling gas taxes, worthless, feckless, spineless, hopeless GOP senators will pass it through the Senate and the Great Orange One will sign it.

And everybody will get in an uproar.

Well, assholes, what did you think was going to happen, huh?

You wanted this, you voted hard for this, now you're gonna get it, good and hard.

Pipe down you racist, fascist, nazi...everybody knows socialism didn't work previously because it was not implemented by people of color.

It might be time for the Ocasio-Cortez forums ala Fred Thompson...

Just saying...

The most hideous thing about Cortez's tweet is not about the dangers of "climate change." It's about the justification of a "green new deal."

I guess that explains all that peace and prosperity in the socialist countries in Central and South America, Africa, Asia....

Nevermind. I'll just report for re-education now.

And California voted NOT to repeal the last .25 cent/gal which was the largest single increase in the country.

Correct, and it'll be used as justification for many many other things. Wait until they tie climate change with unhealthy lifestyle to a universal healthcare system. You can see where that's going. They want to impose a meat tax.

This approach to taxation applies nowhere more reasonably than greenhouse-gas-intensive commodities—also referred to as a meat tax, since animal agriculture is notoriously environmentally costly. A meat tax is not yet among the most pressing political issues of the day, but this week, a preliminary report from an investor initiative known Farm Animal Investment Risk and Return warned that a tax on meat is becoming “increasingly probable.”

They are going to turn us all into vegetarians whether you like it or not. I'm betting meat eaters will be the next stigmatized group, like smokers.

Agree. Their technique is to break the society into small groups that can be selectively oppressed or eliminated...

The supreme irony of this self-righteous nonsense is that it is nothing more than people who now feel that they are in a majority that can harass, subjugate and oppress a specific minority. They are what they hate.

Breaking society down into groups allows groups to band together and declare one of the other sub-groups as the enemy to be despised. They have reached the point where they believe that the combination of all other groups makes a majority that can oppress straight white males.

They really, really badly want to get all white women to go along with this agenda in order to have a solid majority. A majority whose singular purpose is to demonize and abuse a minority.

They are what they hate.
