View Full Version : Everyone deserves a free beer

Wondering what to do with that $50 burning a hole in your pocket?

Walk into your nearest watering hole, and ask the manager how much it would cost to buy everyone a beer.

Then stand up on a stool and announce that youre buying everyone a free beer. When the crowd goes wild, use the opportunity to give a short speech about Ron Paul.

Make it short. Make it passionate and heart felt.

Have materials ready for anyone who wants them.

If you work it right, you wont get charged too much. Plus you can tell the manager that you're trying to generate publicity and then give them press contact information-- a single number for them to all call and say that "this guy came in all gung ho, bought everyone a beer, and talked about Ron Paul".

Campaigns cant do this-- but YOU can.

People will LOVE YOU, and they will be immediately receptive to the message.

The effort will be self-replicating as they will tell their friends.

Don't give me wild ideas.
I live in New Orleans - the HOME of ...1,000 bars?

ALLL within walking distance of each other!
LMAO

I might do that one of these nights, though.
Go hit one of my little hole in the walls with only
10-12 people in there. I could afford that.

:P

I sure hope Ron Paul is elected, otherwise I'll never make back
what I've spent! Praise sound money and abolish the income tax! LoL

A SAMUEL ADAMS! Drink it for free or ya don't get one!

THAT should be the requirement.
Also, tell the bartender to not hand them out until you get the cards passed out, lol.

My advice is NOT to give a speech, but to make sure every one of those drunk people gets a card in their pocket. Tell them just that you're so happy about this new candidate you want to buy them a beer, but you know most people don't want to talk politics in the bar - just make sure the card's in their pocket and they'll look him up when they wake up with a huge hangover in the morning!

Naw, they are more than willing to hear a short "commercial" once you tell them they are getting free beer.

Seize the opportunity, just use your time wisely.

I'm buying a video camera TODAY *just* for this idea.

I'm GREAT friends with a LOT of bars (hah, it's New Orleans and I'm a cop, c'mon!! THey go hand in hand....right? Wait...what did my ethics teacher warn me about?...hmm)

Anyway - I'm gonna set up some 'deals' beforehand and then come in and
sway the masses with a VERY brief message about Ron Paul right after
I ask everyone...."who wants a free beer?! I'm buying!!"

I'ma YouTube it, I swear...

YES!! I'm ready to see that video!

haha! *drumroll*

The suspense builds!

If this is awesome as I think it will be, we'll have to spread this idea to our meetup groups. It's like an inexpensive mini-commercial, and a good time all rolled into one.

Yea, we could totally go as big as we want with this.

I'm thinking we could also do a mini-version, where people pledge to buy 1 person a beer and tell them all about Ron Paul.

That way, nobody goes thirsty. :D

Remember not to talk too much political wind in a bar. Drunks probably don't want to hear it. Maybe you can mention the bunny ranch endorsement from a while back or something. Drunk guys can probably relate to that (at the particular moment at least).

I would do it but the bars in Iowa City are crazy, I'd have to buy like 500 beers....and im not 21.

These are working people, our bread and butter.

Say what you want, they will listen. Like the guy that is getting married and or having a kid-- people might not care otherwise, but believe me their ears perk up and they show their support when those spigots are turned on.

I'll PM you, if you would like to have a lengthy discussion which I am up for.

Otherwise, the short version is; I've arrested LOTS of people for LOTS of things.
I'm in New Orleans, c'mon! Currently, it IS a law. There is a prohibition.
Do I agree with it? No. Do I enforce it? *if* I find it...
but with such high winds around here sometimes, ya know...
it slips outta my hands and I may lose it. :P
But I will say - above all else - Ron Paul has changed my stance on a LOT of things
and a LOT of laws. Take that as you may.

Someone write me a short speech that will grab attention -
then explain a few *key* stances while appealing to both Repubs and
Democrats. Short - maybe 20 secs worth of talking.

Make it snazzy! I'm still working on the camera issue.
My major funds just got took a fatal heart attack but I think
I can find a cheap camera.

I don't know what kind of bars you guys go to but if I bought everyone in the bar a beer I'd be short $100 easily.

Still might do it, however...

DarkLaw
12-14-2007, 05:19 AM
Well, of course some bars have 100s of people,
while others - that are ussually a bit more quiet
so that you can be heard - have 10-20.

Talk to the bartender ahead of time -
see if they will give you a deal,
say - 20 beers for $30 or something.
Hell, start low - 20 for $20,
and then at the END of your speech -

REMIND EVERYONE, Tip your bartender!!

They'll go for it.
