Michael Avenatti, who skyrocketed to fame as a chief critic of President Donald Trump and the lawyer for porn actress Stormy Daniels, was taken into police custody Wednesday following an allegation of domestic violence, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press. Police had responded to a domestic violence incident Tuesday and took a report, but Avenatti was taken into custody Wednesday, the official said.
The official wasn't authorized to discuss the matter publicly and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.
Avenatti remained in custody Wednesday afternoon and a call and text message seeking comment weren't immediately returned.

TMZ (http://www.tmz.com/2018/11/14/michael-avenatti-arrested-domestic-violence-stormy-daniels-attorney/): "Avenatti was arrested Wednesday after a woman filed a felony DV report. We're told her face was "swollen and bruised" with "red marks" on both cheeks. ...

the alleged incident occurred Tuesday night, but there was another confrontation Wednesday between the two at an exclusive apartment building in the Century City area of L.A. ... Wednesday afternoon the woman was on the sidewalk on her cellphone with sunglasses covering her eyes, sobbing and screaming on the phone, "I can't believe you did this to me. I'm going to get a restraining order against you." ...

security brought her inside the building, took her upstairs and Michael showed up 5 minutes later and ran into the building. [Avenatti] screamed repeatedly, "She hit me first." Update2: Michael Avenatti made a brief statement after his release from lockup Wednesday denying the allegations, and saying he looks forward to a "full investigation" after which he is confident that he will be "fully exonerated."

"First of all, I want to thank the hardworking men and women of the LAPD for their professionalism and their work today. They had no option in light of the allegations. Secondly, I have never struck a woman. I never will strike a woman. I have been an advocate for women's rights my entire career and I'm going to continue to be an advocate," Avenatti said. "I am not going to be intimidated from stopping what I am doing. I am a father to two beautiful, smart, daughters. I would never disrespect them by touching a woman inappropriately or striking a woman. I am looking forward to a full investigation at which point I am confident that I will be fully exonerated. I also want to thank everyone for their support that has reached out. You know my character. You know me as a man and I appreciate it. Thank you."
Update: After Michael Avenatti's estranged wife issued a statement through her attorney Thursday night claiming that she "was not subject to any such incident on Tueasday night," TMZ updated their report, writing: "We were initially told by our sources the alleged victim was Avenatti's estranged wife. We now know it was not. The incident involved a different woman."

I dunno what happened, but there is a slight discrepancy in his statements... the media would never let Trump get away with anything that egregious..

He said that she "struck him first", which begs the question, "who struck second?"

Then he claims he did not strike her at all.

This is not the old days of bar room brawls and boys will be boys just having fun with a little fist fight. This society has a zero tolerance for any form of physical or verbal violence whether actual, alleged or implied. That is of course so long as the person involved is not ordained.

From AmericanThinker (https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2018/11/avenatti_domestic_violence_arrest_a_huge_problem_f or_the_left.html):

Avenatti seems to be spiraling into a vortex of trouble, on the hook for millions of dollars in damages, his client Stormy Daniels required to pay court costs to President Trump, and his law firm evicted from its offices for nonpayment of rent. Now he faces felony violence charges and must demand consideration he denied to his foes.

Michael Avenatti's Law Firm Evicted From Newport Beach Office (https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-11-17/michael-avenattis-law-firm-evicted-newport-beach-office?fbclid=IwAR0yivkC8wmCOFLUw98vojuSz-uj0-OSbZH_T1YGtgpWpej0YDHYr2CwjvI)

[Avenatti] is having a rough few weeks. Last month, a judge ordered Los Angeles attorney Michael Avenatti to pay a former employee nearly $5 million in unpaid wages. The next day, the Daily Beast pasted Avenatti, detailing his irresponsible spending habits that included rides on private jets and stays in five-star hotels. (https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-10-22/private-jets-5-star-hotels-explosive-report-alleges-avenatti-lived-lavish-lifestyle) But perhaps worst of all, Avenatti was arrested earlier this week on a felony domestic violence charge (https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-11-14/michael-avenatti-arrested-allegedly-beating-his-wife) … porn actress Stormy Daniels, Avenatti's star client, has said she would "seek new representation" if Avenatti is proven guilty.

And to that list of woes, we can now add one more: According to the Los Angeles Times (http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-na-pol-avenatti-eviction-20181116-story.html), Avenatti lost an appeal on Friday to stop his former law firm from being evicted from its Newport Beach offices. …

Avenatti's former firm petitioned for federal bankruptcy protection last year. …

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office revealed on Wednesday that they would not be seeking felony charges against (https://www.theblaze.com/news/2018/11/14/breaking-michael-avenatti-has-been-arrested-and-tmz-has-the-sordid-details)Michael Avenatti, the attorney for adult film worker Stormy Daniels.

Despite the D.A.’s office refusing to bring felony charges against Avenatti, they have referred him to the Los Angeles City Attorney General’s Office for the possibility of misdemeanor charges, which would be far less serious.

Stormy Daniels Rips into Michael Avenatti (https://www.thedailybeast.com/stormy-daniels-michael-avenatti-filed-defamation-case-against-trump-against-my-wishes?ref=scroll) -

"For months I’ve asked Michael Avenatti to give me accounting information about the fund my supporters so generously donated to for my safety and legal defense. He has repeatedly ignored those requests. Days ago I demanded again, repeatedly, that he tell me how the money was being spent and how much was left. Instead of answering me, without my permission or even my knowledge Michael launched another crowdfunding campaign to raise money on my behalf. I learned about it on Twitter. …

Michael has not treated me with the respect and deference an attorney should show to a client. He has spoken on my behalf without my approval. He filed a defamation case against Donald Trump against my wishes. He repeatedly refused to tell me how my legal defense fund was being spent. Now he has launched a new crowdfunding campaign using my face and name without my permission and attributing words to me that I never wrote or said. I’m deeply grateful to my supporters and they deserve to know their money is being spent responsibly. ... “

Also from The Daily Beast (https://www.thedailybeast.com/stormy-daniels-michael-avenatti-filed-defamation-case-against-trump-against-my-wishes?ref=scroll) - Avenatti’s legal work for Daniels has less than satisfactory :

In the April defamation lawsuit against the president, Avenatti argued Trump hurt her by tweeting that she participated in a “total con job.” But in November, a judge dismissed the suit and ordered Daniels to pay the president’s legal bills. Trump’s lawyers asked for almost $350,000 in legal fees; Daniels is now fighting to try to lower that bill. ...

Since sending out his first trial balloon announcing his intention to seek the 2020 Democratic nomination for president back in October, a lot has changed in the life of "creepy porn lawyer" Michael Avenatti. (https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-10-29/michael-avenatti-slowly-building-political-machine-support-2020-run)
And most of that change has been bad.
First, he was accused by his 24-year-old actress girlfriend of domestic abuse and was arrested by the LAPD. (https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-11-20/aspiring-actress-files-restraining-order-against-michael-avenatti) Then his firm was evicted from its office. And his star client, Stormy Daniels, distanced herself from him during an interview, where she also said he launched a 'legal defense fund' in her name without her permission. (https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-11-28/stormy-daniels-says-michael-avenatti-went-rogue-sued-trump-against-her-wishes)
https://www.zerohedge.com/sites/default/files/inline-images/2018.12.04avenatti.JPG
And though the (formerly) wealthy California lawyer has never demonstrated a pragmatic view of reality, it seems he is preemptively giving up on his dream of challenging President Trump for the presidency in 2020. In a statement released Tuesday, Avenatti said that "after consulting with my family" he no longer intends to seek the 2020 nomination.

Please see my statement below regarding 2020. pic.twitter.com/ztCfZUY6hA (https://t.co/ztCfZUY6hA)
— Michael Avenatti (@MichaelAvenatti) December 4, 2018 (https://twitter.com/MichaelAvenatti/status/1070000911559192577?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) Ironically, the lawyer - who has never demonstrated a firm grip on reality - concluded his statement by urging the Democratic Party to find a candidate who would actually have a chance of winning against Trump (Avenatti courted controversy earlier this year when he demanded that the Dems nominate a white man to battle Trump in 2020).

Michael Avenatti, the attorney of pornographic actress Stormy Daniels, will not face charges in connection to a November 2018 domestic violence arrest, the Los Angeles city attorney’s office announced Friday. “The City Attorney’s Office has reviewed all of the reports in this matter and considered all of the evidence,” a statement from the Attorney’s Office reads (https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/la-city-attorney-declines-charge-michael-avenatti-at-time-1181913?utm_source=twitter).
“This matter has been set for city attorney hearings in which both the victim and the suspect will have an opportunity to be heard on different days. The victim will be advised of services available to her. The suspect will be informed that although we decline to file charges at this time, this matter remains open and we may file charges at any time prior to the expiration of the statute of limitations.”
