A perplexing billboard made their views on the matter unclear.

President Donald Trump is not Jesus Christ.

He's not the savior of the world who came to Earth to atone for the human race's wrongs. He was not crucified. Bankruptcies aside, he has never come back from the dead. Trump is a man, nothing more.

Or is he? It seemed like that was the question residents of St. Louis County, Missouri, were supposed to ask when they looked up at a large billboard featuring a picture of Trump along with the phrases: "The Word Became Flesh…" and "Make the Gospel Great Again:"

The ad, which has been taken down (https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6355175/Mysterious-billboard-suggesting-President-Donald-Trump-God-incarnate-pulled-Missouri.html?ito=social-twitter_dailymailus), appeared on an electronic billboard owned by DDI Media. The company wouldn't say who had paid for it, but an organization called "Make the Gospel Great again" has claimed credit (https://twitter.com/ZaackHunt/status/1059083676695388161).

"The Word became flesh" is a reference to the Book of John. Chapter 1, Verse 14 says (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+1%3A14&version=ESV) that the Word (Jesus) took human form and "dwelt among us" on Earth.

So was the ad claiming that Trump and Jesus are one in the same? Some people weren't sure. "I didn't know what to make of it," local resident Sherri Chisholim told (https://www.kmov.com/news/make-the-gospel-great-again-large-billboard-of-trump-has/article_538f78d0-e0a9-11e8-b68e-4735053c1e10.html) KMOV. "I didn't know what message it was trying to send but I felt like it was somewhat offensive, I didn't know if they were trying to equate Donald Trump to Jesus."

But the group does consider Trump to be a messenger sent from God:

It's safe to say they probably could have been a bit clearer.

I would not quote that scripture highlighting an image of Trump, Ron, my neighbor Greg, or a Snickers bar... and I love Snickers.

Unless completely fabricated, it's poor taste at best, nearly blasphemous at worst.

All that said, it doesn't reflect upon Trump or anyone outside of those directly responsible.

*edit to add that if the billboard existed as described, my money would be on some non-christian lefty loon, hence the "alleged".

I thought of the Obama thing myself. And even with Trump I've known a good many Christians throughout my life who very much would see that billboard as equating him with Christ. Reasonable people can interpret the same facts differently, and often do.
