This unofficial poll actually gets a lot of Iowa and national press around caucus and election time. It's based at an old restaurant in Iowa City (where I lived for a few years) and people use coffee beans to vote for their favorite candidate. Reagan and Clinton have both been there and it was featured in an episode of the West Wing (which of course I have never seen).

Now they have an online poll. I see that Dr. Paul is the leading republican right now (most of the voters have been democrat) but not by much.

Please go here and vote but PLEASE only vote once or they will bust us and nullify our results. If we all vote but only once I really think this little poll will get us some positive press in Iowa.

Thanks to one of the Des Moines meetup group members for spotting this.

These are all great motivationally wise, as a lot of voters in this poll seem to be from Iowa. However, I just wish ONE gallup poll or scientific poll would replicate these online polls.

I started this thread just hours ago. Ron Paul has now gone from being in 4th place to being in first place with nearly twice as many votes as Obama. I bet this will turn some heads in Iowa.

I love Ron Paul supporters.

Wow! Here we are 7 weeks later and as I expected this restaurant and its silly poll is getting some media attention. The Des Moines Register did a big feature on this place yesterday. I expect this thing to get more media attention in the run-up to the Iowa Caucuses, though I don't really understand why. They even list what some of the candidates have eaten there.

They mention the online poll but fail to mention that Ron Paul is currently in 1st place among all candidates by a wide margin. Selective reporting, I suspect.

The only way I could see the results was to go through the voting procedure again. I hope we don't get accused of spamming their poll - I just wanted to see the status and couldn't find another way.
