whether intentionally or not, Alan Keyes did Ron Paul a big favor in this debate: his issues 'the little guy gets ignored', sure fits our guy, too! 'they' get all the air time, well alan sure hogged a lot and it didn't hurt the good doctor. and the one you really misssed: alan had to take the heat and not Ron Paul! whether he's a nut or not, i feel he did us a big favor;)

Keyes is so scary - he makes the libertarian views of Ron Paul look mainstream

I think the only reason Obama won his Senate seat is because his opponent Keyes scared people.

Not really, he made a compelling argument to make sure the "little guy" stays ignored. Now Paul has to look more compelling than ever.

Alan Keyes is absolutely insane. He's a worse preacher than Huckabee.

Huckabee probably would rather die than run with a Catholic.

Obama dominated and spanked Keyes across the road something like 72% to 28%. And it's possible I'm being generous with those numbers off hte top of my head.

He's also become quite batshit insane over the last 8 years. He used to be a decent guy, but a bolt fell out somewhere and since then nobody knows what to make of him.

That didn't hurt, but Obama would have won anyway. His first Republican opponent dropped out due to a scandal with his wife. Obama had a huge lead before Keyes came in. He's very popular in Illinois.

You mean the PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF ILLINOIS where Daley's monuments are as prominent as Lenin's and handguns are illegal?

"Keyes currently serves on the Board of Advisors for the Catholic League.[62]"

That's all you need to know.

If you didn't know, Catholic League is the group that whines every time a harry potter movie/book comes out because it is satanistic and occult. Lately they've been after The Golden Compass, which I have heard is a terrible movie in itself, but seeing as the league is against it, I might just give it a chance :p

I didn't watch the debate.

I've always enjoyed listening to Alan Keys talk. However, I imagine that the average person would see him as the boringest person in the world. I think that he is too smart and articulates too much for that average person to comprehend 1/10th of what he is talking about.

I think the only reason Obama won his Senate seat is because his opponent Keyes scared people.

Your 100% right.

This all happened because Jack Ryan withdrew from the senate race against Obama on June 25, 2004 amid embarrassing sex club allegations in his divorce records. His ex-wife who was in a TV series did not want to do "things" in sex clubs in front of other people. The ex-wife was Jeri Ryan, who has starred in TV's "Star Trek: Voyager" and "Boston Public" (Smoking gun has something on that)

Former Govs. Jim Edgar and James Thompson and former Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka all turned it down.

Keyes was the last choice of the Rebublican party to run against Obama. Keyes started to campaign saying things like "Jesus Christ would not vote for Obama" and by August Obama held a 41 point lead and never looked back. Another great moment for the Republican party in Illinois.

You guys don't get it! Alan Keyes has come in late into the debates at the request of Buchanan to assist Ron Paul by diverting the negativity away from Ron Paul to himself. He is attempting get the people to see how corrupt the media is by playing the whining card. We are beginning to fight back without involving Ron Paul. He is attempting to gain more respect for Ron Paul by making himself look more radical.

I highly doubt Buchanan convinced Keyes to run. Buchanan and Keyes do not like eachother. In 1996 they both competeted for the same crowd in the early states...and it got dirty. Keyes had his staffers perpetuate the rumors that Buchanan was anti-semitic.

Keyes is running because he had outstanding debt from his past Presidential and Senate runs...he pays himself a salary while borrowing money for his campaigns. He's trying to retire debt by creating a new "campaign committee" and rolling over the money.
