Judge Andrew Napolitano reacted Tuesday to an NBC News report (https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/supreme-court/mutual-friend-ramirez-kavanaugh-anxious-come-forward-evidence-n915566) that Brett Kavanaugh attempted to refute sexual assault claims made by accuser Deborah Ramirez before they were made public.
The report cites text messages between two college friends of the Supreme Court nominee, which reportedly suggest Kavanaugh was talking with other classmates before Ramirez's claims were published in The New Yorker.
The New York Times on Monday reported about an alleged bar fight in 1985 (https://www.foxnews.com/politics/white-house-slams-ridiculous-nyt-report-on-kavanaughs-college-ice-throwing-incident) that reportedly included Kavanaugh, during which a man claimed the nominee threw ice at him.
Napolitano said on Tuesday that the NBC News report is "far more serious" than the Times' story if it's accurate that Kavanaugh was communicating with his ex-classmates in that manner.
"It's a violation of legal ethics for a sitting federal judge to be asking people for favors," he said.
