According to Jennifer Bendery, a reporter for The Huffington Post, the Capitol Police confirmed that protesters pushed in the door to Harris’ office and assaulted the congressman.

Brick thrown through Dem senator's Va. office window

Virginia police are investigating what appears to be an attack on Sen. Mark Warner’s (D-Va.) regional office in Roanoke after a brick was reportedly thrown through the office’s front window before it opened Monday morning.

"This morning prior to 8 a.m., an individual threw a brick through the front office window of Sen. Warner's Roanoke office," Warner's communications director Rachel Cohen said in a statement to CNN. "Thankfully due to the early hour no one was in the office at the time."




The incident comes days after multiple shots were fired through the window of the Albany County Democratic Committee's headquarters last week.

According to the Times Union, six rounds were fired through the window of the committee’s chairman Jack Flynn, where he has been known to work late sometimes. The chairman later said he believes the attack was intended to be a “statement.”

They were smoking WEED!! (I don't see any violence in the video- the report says that the "assault" was getting his hand in the door- he claims he bruised his wrist trying to close his office door). The arrest was for smoking pot in the building.

"Assaulted" is a major exaggeration of what happened. See the video above.


Police arrested two marijuana legalization advocates Tuesday outside Rep. Andy Harris’ office, and the Baltimore County congressman said he bruised his wrist during an encounter with the activists that “demonstrates the problem with political discourse today.”

The Maryland Marijuana Justice protesters — Rachel Donlan, 46, of Washington, and Kris Furnish, 28, of Salisbury — were demonstrating around 12:15 p.m. against Harris’ opposition to legalization efforts, according to Adam Eidinger, a well-known legalization advocate who helped organize the action on Capitol Hill.

“They tried to talk to the congressman,” Eidinger said. “He ran past them and slammed the door in their face. He got on the other side of the door and was pushing the door shut. He caught Rachel’s foot in the door. She screamed. She was in a lot of pain.”


Harris, the lone Republican in Maryland’s congressional delegation, offered a differing account.

The congressman’s office said in an email that the protesters “sought to forcibly enter the office” as Harris entered through a private door, “bruising his wrist as they tried to force the door open.”


Police said the protesters were charged with consumption of marijuana in a prohibited public space. It is illegal to smoke marijuana on federal property in Washington.
