Was researching US temperature records this morning.
Here is what I have found.
52 places tracked.
Earliest record 1893 so 125 years.
Hottest day in each state.
Between 1940 and today we have broken the record 17 times which equates to 32.7% new records since 1940.
Between 1893 and 1940, 35 records still have not been broken. 67.3% of all high temperature records for each state happened before 1940.
