It appears that with the current state of affairs all it takes is any allegation of wrong doing at the last minute to derail progress, movement, momentum, whatever the forward movement to a goal is.

Isn't there some type of saying at a wedding, speak now or forever hold your peace?

It seems counter productive to have judges stopping executive orders and chaos instilled by partisan politics.

Is this the future of politics? Is this the way Republicans will act when a Democrat is in office? What is the solution? This is insane.

There should be some some integrity in our elected officials. The drama being pushed for the red or blue team is disgusting. How can a senator be so passionate for a cause when their team is in power and totally against it when the other team is in power?

Maybe there should be a three strike rule like in baseball and like Bush instituted for people breaking the law. Maybe elected officials should not be able to flip flop at a whim. If they flip flop three times they are out. If anyone should take what they say seriously it is our elected officials. They should be responsible and accountable for what they do and say.

As far as accusations and nominees. Maybe there should be a time frame. So the president announces his/her nominee/nominees and a gag order is put on congress/senate to say nothing pro or con regarding the nomination. Even the media has to have a gag order on the nominee. All that can be said is President XYZ has nominated ABC for GHF position. Any/all American people that have any knowledge of illicit/illegal activity about this person has until aa/bb/zz to voice their concern. After which no accusations will be considered.

People need to do their own research not be propagandized by politicians or media. If a person has an ax to grind with someone they should come forward in a timely fashion not as a disruption to a process. If several names were mentioned as perspective nominees and any mention other than the fact that they are possible nominees was forbidden, people would have to either have a sincere issue with the person or have to do their own research to find out about the people. President's could even be smart and throw out the names of people they are not even considering and include them in a list of 10 people or 100 people. Gag order for politicians and news pertaining to the named people. After 2 weeks or whatever timeframe, no accusations are allowed and gag order lifted.

You hit the nail on the head in post 1. There needs to be integrity in elected officials, and there just isn’t any.

They are almost all bought and paid for by unworldly money and it is clear that their allegiance is to their god, money.

No integrity.

Since most lack integrity I would consider the three strike rule :)

Given how little money people can bring to the table their role has been significantly diminished compared to 2008 where a few million dollar money bombs were nothing to write home about. Hello cogs!

This may be the last time a male is nominated for the Supreme Court. I can see the republican using the same tactics to block a justice nominated by a democrat.

I wish! If only someone would make an allegation prior to a spending bill!!

But alas, this is all about the political show - not about any change of direction in government.

Nothing will be solved until the Do Not Let Them Act act is enacted.

Hey - if we can't have a diminishing government, the best we can hope for is an ever increasingly ineffective one. I am pleased in this direction.
