High-powered “60 Minutes” executive producer Jeff Fager is leaving CBS “effective immediately” amid sexual misconduct allegations, but the network said his abrupt exit is not directly related to the claims made against him by Pulitzer Prize-winner Ronan Farrow in The New Yorker.
“Jeff Fager is leaving the company effective immediately,” said CBS News president David Rhodes in a memo to staffers, which was quickly circulated to media reporters Wednesday.
“This action today is not directly related to the allegations surfaced in press reports, which continue to be investigated independently. However, he violated company policy and it is our commitment to uphold those policies at every level,” Rhodes wrote.

Fager’s trouble began in July, when Ronan Farrow, writing in the New Yorker (https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2018/08/06/les-moonves-and-cbs-face-allegations-of-sexual-misconduct), detailed multiple allegations of sexual misconduct at CBS. The story targeted Fager and Moonves, suggesting that CBS resembled an out-of-control “frat house.” More allegations surfaced in Sunday’s story that sent Moonves out the door.
Jericka Duncan, a reporter at CBS covering the accusations, “reached out to Fager for his response to allegations in the New Yorker that he had groped or touched CBS employees at company parties,” CBS reported (https://www.cbsnews.com/news/fired-60-minutes-boss-jeff-fager-warned-cbs-news-reporter-there-are-people-whove-lost-their-jobs-trying-to-harm-me/).
Fager mustn’t have liked the inquiry given the text he sent: “If you repeat these false accusations without any of your own reporting to back them up you will be held responsible for harming me. Be careful. There are people who lost their jobs trying to harm me and if you pass on these damaging claims without your own reporting to back them up that will become a serious problem.”
Thus ended of the tenure of Jeff Fagers at CBS. News president David Rhodes delivered the pink slip (https://www.cbsnews.com/news/60-minutes-executive-producer-jeff-fager-to-exit/), “effective immediately.”

That's a really dumb policy.

If you pay somebody $5 million a year, if they show up late 3 times in a month but he works 60 hours a week and it your policy to fire workers who show up late 3 times in a month, then it is probably really stupid to let them go for that..

On the other hand, an employee who makes $15/hour and needs to cover certain hours to service customers is likely more easily replaceable and so sticking to certain policy guidelines might work out pretty well.
