North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's trust in U.S. President Donald Trump remains unchanged, according to South Korea's special envoy, who met with Kim in Pyongyang on Wednesday.
"Chairman Kim emphasized that he has never made a negative comment about Trump," Chung Eui-yong, South Korea's top national security adviser, said at a media briefing on Thursday.
Kim also reaffirmed his nation's commitment to "actively engage in denuclearization if the countermeasures are taken simultaneously" and "expressed frustration that his goodwill is not being properly delivered to the international community."
Kim stressed to Chung that North Korea's nuclear tests have become permanently impossible at Poongye-ri as two-thirds of its tunnel is destroyed. The dismantled missile-engine test site at Tongchang-ri is North Korea's only test facility.

This means North Korea "will completely halt long-range missile tests in the future, and is a very practical and significant step," Chung added.
North Korean state media supported what Kim told South Korean officials.
"Supreme leader said he fully supports and sympathizes with" President Moon Jae-in of South Korea, with Kim saying "he remains unchanged in his determination to strive hard to bring the fellow countrymen better results at an early date, bearing in mind the mission before the nation and its expectation," Korean Central News Agency reported, citing Kim's reply to a personal letter from Moon.

After which, Kim Jong retired to his palace with his closest friends, enjoying a lovely meal of stray dog.

You cut sanctions before we will do anything else.

SEOUL, South Korea — Kim Jong Un expressed faith in an increasingly embattled President Donald Trump's efforts to settle a nuclear impasse but demanded that his "goodwill measures" be met in kind, South Korean officials said Thursday after meeting with the North Korean leader.

The trove of comments from Kim, including his commitment to a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula and to the suspension of all future long-range missile tests, was filtered through the liberal South Korean government, which is keen on keeping engagement alive, and also through Kim's propaganda specialists in Pyongyang.

The impasse between North Korea and the United States, with neither side seemingly willing to make any substantive move, has generated widespread skepticism over Trump's claims that Kim will really dismantle his nuclear weapons program. Despite Kim's repeated denuclearization commitments, recent satellite photos have indicated his weapons factories were still operating to produce fissile materials to make nuclear weapons.

Trump added yet another sanction on NK. You would think that the man could hold off on more sanctions until the nuclear talks are over. SMDH

He doesn't want to end sanctions until North Korea denuclearizes. North Korea won't denuclearize until Trump ends sanctions and leaves South Korea. This isn't going anywhere. But both will try to exploit it for their own political purposes (and blame the other side for any failures).

I get all of that but why ADD more sanction on NK when u are already in a stalemate? Trump can not longer fake the perception that he is truly working for the deep state whatever that is

China has been skirting his sanctions- weakening them. Adding more lets him claim to be tough guy. But since the US has no trade with North Korea we can't really sanction them without other countries doing it for us. He wants China to help him on Korea on the other hand he keeps making more threats against China as well. His plans always seem to run into problems with the reality of situations- undermining his own goals. He can keep faking for a long time- he is very good at that.

But there was no indication that Kim had offered concrete steps toward giving up his nuclear arsenal, something some U.S. officials have said privately they doubt he is willing to do.

In previous, failed talks, North Korea has said it could consider giving up its nuclear program if the United States provided security guarantees by removing troops from South Korea and withdrawing its so-called nuclear umbrella of deterrence from the South and Japan.

Pompeo says North Korea denuclearization "decades long" challenge

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said getting North Korea to dismantle its nuclear and missile programs is a "decades long challenge," as President Donald Trump said Monday he remains confident Kim Jong Un will follow through on his pledges to do so.

Pompeo was speaking to troops during an unannounced stop in Afghanistan, days after North Korea blasted his performance during talks in Pyongyang, accusing the US of "gangster-like" behavior.

"Look, this is a decades long challenge, getting the North Koreans to make a fundamental strategic decision, which is that the nuclear weapons that they possess today frankly present a threat to them and not security," Pompeo said.

Trump promised to end the Korean War when he visited with Kim in April and that is one of the things they are still waiting on. Trump later said that North Korea would have to denuclearize first.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un recently told vising South Korean officials that he remains committed to a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula and said he still has faith in U.S. President Donald Trump. The White House said Monday that Trump received Kim's request to schedule a second meeting between the two and that planning is in motion to make it happen.

North Korea says Trump has a 'dirty body' and 'nasty smell' in childish defense of its horrific human rights record

North Korea made unusually bizarre attacks on President Donald Trump after Trump started criticizing Pyongyang for its abysmal human rights record.
North Korea mocked Trump as a "dolt" and saying he "cannot deodorize the nasty smell from his dirty body woven with frauds, sexual abuses and all other crimes."

On the same day that The White House said it has begun coordinating a second meeting between President Trump and Kim Jong Un after the North Korean leader sent a "very warm, very positive letter" requesting a follow-up summit to their earlier sit-down in Singapore on June 12, John Bolton revealed key details of previously undisclosed exchanges with the North ahead of the talks.
Bolton revealed that Kim Jong Un offered to dismantle his nuclear weapons program within two years when he met with South Korean President Moon Jae-in during their first meeting last April. But when pressed by the South Korean side, he quickly caved and reluctantly agreed to one year, according to Bolton's account (http://english.yonhapnews.co.kr/news/2018/09/11/0200000000AEN20180911000900315.html).
https://www.zerohedge.com/sites/default/files/inline-images/Bolton%20Trump%20Kim.jpg
His remarks came during what's being described as the national security advisor's first major speech since joining the Trump administration at an event hosted by the conservative Federalist Society at a Washington, D.C., hotel.
As Bolton related it, Kim backed down upon Moon's issuing a counterproposal for the North to denuclearize within a year.
"He said we can do it in two years," Bolton said in the speech at the Mayflower Hotel. "Moon Jae-in said to Kim Jong-un — and President Moon told this to President Trump —Moon Jae-in said, 'Well, why don't we do it in one year.'"
Kim then agreed, Bolton explained, and as South Korea's Yonhap News describes of the speech (http://english.yonhapnews.co.kr/news/2018/09/11/0200000000AEN20180911000900315.html), Bolton indicated "that caused him to remark in the past about pushing for denuclearization in a year."
