Sen. John McCain to discontinue brain cancer treatment, family says

Sen. John McCain, who was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer last year, has decided to discontinue treatment, his family said in a statement Friday.

Last summer McCain said he had been diagnosed with an aggressive glioblastoma, "and the prognosis was serious," his family said in a statement.

"In the year since, John has surpassed expectations for his survival. But the progress of disease and the inexorable advance of age render their verdict," the McCain family said. "With his usual strength of will, he has now chosen to discontinue medical treatment. Our family is immensely grateful for the support and kindness of all his caregivers over the last year, and for the continuing outpouring of concern and affection from John’s many friends and associates, and the many thousands of people who are keeping him in their prayers. God bless and thank you all."

I do not wish death upon anyone. But I hope he has made peace with his past and things only he knows he's done that were heinous.

This will make AZ politics interesting. Once he's gone, who will Ducey pick to fill the seat?

Not shedding tears. He’s checking out before he goes down with the Hiltanic.

(I can only hope)

I don't believe I've ever shed a tear for the passing of a popular figure. I'm not built that way - I don't attach a tremendous amount of emotion to cultural figures and their impact on my life. I suspect that when Ron passes, I'll shed a tear. Beyond that... I can't imagine being so attached to someone I've never known.

That said... I've heard worse news. And I'll leave it at that.

I cried a lot after Bruce Brown died.

I vote for Euthanasia, McCain is a fucking SNAKE, an absolute TRAITOR that should be charged with multiple instances of High Treason against the USA. Well, either euthanasia or a 4th Trimester / Post Birth Abortion...

Good riddance to bad rubbish. May God have mercy on his soul, because I certainly would not.

Do NOT Let Them Make A Saint Of This Assshole
https://caitlinjohnstone.com/2018/08/24/do-not-let-them-make-a-saint-of-this-asshole/

“Our strategy should be not only to confront empire, but to lay siege to it.
To deprive it of oxygen. To shame it. To mock it. With our art, our music, our literature, our stubbornness,
our joy, our brilliance, our sheer relentlessness – and our ability to tell our own stories.
Stories that are different from the ones we’re being brainwashed to believe.” ~ Arundhati Roy

John McCain’s family has announced that the Arizona Senator
has opted to end treatment for brain cancer and live out his final few days in peace,
presumably under the best hospice care money can buy.
And I sincerely hope that it is peaceful.
My statements about my desire for John McCain to shuffle off this mortal coil sooner rather than later
have been highly publicized, and I stand by all of them,
but I don’t wish him a painful or agitated end.

And, also, I am going to keep hammering on how very important it is
that we refuse to bow to the aggressive demands from establishment loyalists
that we be respectful of this warmongering psychopath and his blood-soaked legacy.

It almost a certainty that Cindy McCain will be appointed to fill his vacant seat. Setting the precedent that offices are family heirlooms to be passed down, no longer the 'people's' concern.

Unfortunately it has been like that for years.
