At best yes, at the very least he made it political poison and promoted non interventionism to the most amount of people. This is an idea in which he may even inspire others with. As long as the Russians haven't replaced him with a spy that has been surgically altered to look like Rand Paul he at least distanced himself politically from this administrations war if it does happen.

Its a flaw that he speaks too early on topics because his pride won't let him appear uninformed.

The fact that John Bolton is a fixture in the white house and Trump still chooses to discuss these topics with Rand and an open mind is a good thing, not a bad thing. This should be encouraged not ridiculed.
