While the fight was a close as expected - given the massive amounts of cash both parties spent - the winner of Ohio's special House election is Trump-backed Republican Troy Balderson.

As we noted earlier, while both candidates are already on the ballot in November for a rematch to win a full two-year term, tonight's special election carried major implications for Republicans seeking to hold control of the House and Democrats trying to retake the chamber.
Despite the numbers above CNN, among others refuse to call it.

Of course - two things are now about to happen: 1) a recount will be demanded... and 2) Russian interference will somehow be blamed.

Additionally, Trump-backed Iraq war veteran John James has won Michigan's GOP Primary to take on Democratic Senator Debbie Stabenow this fall.

Balderson was a Kasich acolyte who sucked. Trump may have saved him with that rally. Most republicans are really poor candidates.

I didn't pay much attention to this race until this morning when I was shown a poll that said the Democrat was up 23 points. I guess that was wrong. Good.

Its been a historically republican seat so not much to be proud of?

Also balderson has been slowly losing his lead coming up to the special election.

If that is any indication, the closer it gets to election day, the more democrats start paying attention and getting riled up.

Anybody know the party registration in OH12?

A sad page in the Make Ohio Kasich/Hickenlooper saga.

It's a special election so the riled up dems have a turnout advantage they won't have in Nov., they are peaking early and will be worn out by the mid-terms.

Ohio election officials on Wednesday found 588 previously uncounted votes in its hotly contested special election for the state's 12th Congressional District.

Officials found the votes in a Columbus suburb, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer (https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2018/08/08/ohio-midterm-uncounted-votes-danny-oconnor-troy-balderson/941603002/), netting Democratic candidate Danny O'Connor 190 more votes and narrowing his race against Republican Troy Balderson to 1,564 votes.
