Bit surprising/ironic that this happened in Texas, a state that is Iraqi freedom leader Bush's home state and made significant sacrifices for freedom of Iraqi arabs.
If this had happened under Obama's watch, the waiter probably would have been invited to White House. It is not clear yet if Trump MAGA team will make any public statement on this incidence/invite the waiter to the White House.

A customer at a Texas steakhouse who left a server with no tip and a racist message over the weekend may not return, restaurant management says.
When Khalil Cavil looked at his customer's bill Saturday night, he saw a note written on the top saying, "We don't tip terrorist." The customer at Saltgrass Steak House in Odessa had circled his name, Khalil, and left a zero in the tip field for a bill totaling $108.73.
"At the moment I didn’t know what to think nor what to say, I was sick to my stomach," Cavil said on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=2548928068475016&set=a.428327683868409.102734.100000735448288&type=3&theater). "I share this because I want people to understand that this racism, and this hatred still exists."
Terry Turney, COO of Saltgrass Steak House, told USA TODAY in a statement that the customer responsible for the message has been banned.
"We stand by and support our employee," Turney said. "Racism of any form is unacceptable."
Cavil, who has no Middle Eastern roots, told Texas’ KMID (https://www.yourbasin.com/news/-we-don-t-tip-terrorist-/1306270175) he was named after one of his father's best friends who was killed in an accident. Khalil means "friend" in Arabic, the Odessa American (https://www.oaoa.com/news/local/article_f6b1f89a-8941-11e8-a62c-b36bd18d5067.html) notes.
"I have decided to let this encourage me, and fuel me to change the world the only way I know how," Cavil said.

Every time this has happened in the past, it's turned out to be a hoax perpetrated by the phony victim.

Good. I wasn't going to return anyway.

Not every time but also not enough times for the argument to be valid.

No matter how fake some of these accusations are, there are still real incidents of racism from the right.

No matter how violent and soy-filled ANTIFA are, the right still engages in violence enough where the blame toward them is undebatable. If you want the high ground, you gotta be clean AF, especially going up against the left.

Every time this has happened in the past, it's turned out to be a hoax perpetrated by the phony victim.

There have been various hoaxes in the past, although they don't tend to involve arabic folks. Fox news report has more detail on his motivation:

In the days since, Cavil’s Facebook post has sparked an outpouring of support, with 2,400 reactions and 885 comments, some of which were left by Facebook users offering to send him the tip money. But Cavil, who is planning to attend Dallas Baptist University, is thinking bigger picture. "It was not about the money. It was never about the money, it's about shedding the light on an issue I feel very passionate about,” he told the outlet of his decision to share the reported story, citing his faith in God as motivation.

“I share this because I want people to understand that this racism, and this hatred still exists. Although, this is nothing new, it is still something that will test your faith. All day I’ve had to remind myself that Jesus died for these people too,” the 20-year-old continued on Facebook. “I have decided to let this encourage me, and fuel me to change the world the only way I know how. So to all the haters out there, keep talkin, [you're] only helping me step into my destiny!”

"I just had to think … what would Jesus do in this situation?," he added to Big 2/Fox 24.
Representatives for Saltgrass Steakhouse returned Fox News’ request for comment with the following statement:
"We stand by and support our employee. Racism of any form is unacceptable and we have banned this customer from returning to our establishment,” company COO Terry Turney said.

Note the different handwriting on the numbers and the note. Bad grammar. Maybe the guy was on a blind date that didn't go well? Maybe one of the coworkers pulled a prank.

Anything is possible and prank angle cannot be completely ruled out. Athough not clear about numbers writing/alphabets writing comparison.

To be prudent, always better to wait till media investigations are completed and all the facts come out.

I am sorry but I am really confused by this post. But what does your little anecdote about a radio station in odessa in the 70s got to do with anything?

It is not really a very racist place by texas standards ( like Killeen was back in the day ) . Probably only abut 70 percent white with a lot of oil field workers nearby and there used to also be a lot of professional musicians there . If you go to the museum you can see the display of texas presidents .

That is where I would hide if I was a terrorist . Plus , this guys cover story is very fishy . Claims no middle eastern ties yet his dad named him in Arabic . Yeah right.

DW used to think I was paranoid when I would write "cash" on the tip line since I almost always tip in cash when paying with a card. She doesn't think so any longer.

"Fake-ism"

I figure this is a new form of doxxing or SWATTing directed at people who don't/forget to tip.

It was just dumb luck for the poor bastard that this was directed at, that it was squelched before the Internet Outrage Squads got hold of it and it ended up costing him his job and home or business.

If anything I'd support a company who did that even more. Defending an employee is good, correcting a mistake is even better.
