North Korea pushed back Monday on recent media reports and accusations that North Korea is advancing its weapons programs rather than disarming in pursuit of the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
“American intelligence agencies and media are pushing the opinion that ‘the North is expanding its nuclear and missile facilities’ and ‘North Korea is breaking the promise of complete denuclearization,’” the North Korean propaganda outlet Arirang-Meari asserted (http://arirangmeari.com/index.php?t=ring&no=2080) Monday, arguing that such “impure public opinion is just canard spread by naysayers on the dialogue within the U.S. society which can secure their interests only when the status of war between the North and the U.S. and military tensions are maintained.”
The article did not mention any specific media outlets by name, but the outlet appears to be referring to recent reports from NBC, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, and The Diplomat.

When Secretary of State Mike Pompeo traveled to Pyongyang last weekend for a two-day visit with senior officials, he pressed North Korea on these developments, raising questions about North Korea’s commitment to denuclearization, Japan’s Yomiuri Shimbun reported (http://the-japan-news.com/news/article/0004588157) Monday. After the secretary departed, North Korea’s foreign ministry called the meeting “regrettable,” describing the U.S. attitude and demands as “cancerous” and “gangster-like.”
During the challenging meeting in Pyongyang, North Korean officials firmly denied the accusations that it is moving forward with its weapons development programs. The Arirang-Meari report accused the U.S. of using misleading reports to put “pressure” on North Korea. “The creation of new things is always accompanied by a struggle against old things, and innovations always go with hindrance. [The U.S.] should resolve pending issues with a new perspective and way while boldly breaking with the old things,” according to the report.
The article followed similar reports in DPRK Today and Uriminzokkiri, according (https://www.nknews.org/2018/07/n-korea-urges-trump-to-ignore-denuclearization-doubts-from-hardliners-media/) to NK News.
“The task of the moment is to respect each other and build up mutual trust. If the American administration is swayed by anti-peace and anti-dialogue forces in dealing with the DPRK, good outcomes can hardly be expected,” the Tongil Sinbo, the North’s external propaganda weekly, argued (http://english.yonhapnews.co.kr/northkorea/2018/07/16/31/0401000000AEN20180716008700315F.html) Sunday.

Contrary to MSM reports from three weeks ago (https://www.nbcnews.com/news/north-korea/north-korea-has-increased-nuclear-production-secret-sites-say-u-n887926) citing anonymous US officials, North Korea is actively dismantling key facilities related to their nuclear program, according to satellite imagery analyzed by 38 North (https://www.38north.org/2018/07/sohae072318/), an important first step towards fulfilling commitments made by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un during a June 12 summit in Singapore with President Trump.

new commercial satellite imagery of the Sohae Satellite Launching Station (North Korea’s main satellite launch facility since 2012) indicates that the North has begun dismantling key facilities. Most notably, these include the rail-mounted processing building—where space launch vehicles are assembled before moving them to the launch pad—and the nearby rocket engine test stand used to develop liquid-fuel engines for ballistic missiles and space launch vehicles. -38 North (https://www.38north.org/2018/07/sohae072318/)
These facilities are believed to have played a substantial role in North Korea's intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) program. Photos taken between July 20 and July 22 reveal the deconstruction, including the facility's rail-mounted transfer structure and other features.

Commercial satellite imagery of the launch pad from July 20 shows that the rail-mounted processing/transfer structure has been moved to the middle of the pad, exposing the underground rail transfer point—one of the few times it has been seen in this location. The roof and supporting structure have been partially removed and numerous vehicles are present—including a large construction crane. An image from two days later shows the continued presence of the crane and vehicles. Considerable progress has been made in dismantling the rail-mounted processing/transfer structure. One corner has been completely dismantled and the parts can be seen lying on the ground. In both images the two fuel/oxidizer bunkers, main processing building and gantry tower remain untouched. -38 North (https://www.38north.org/2018/07/sohae072318/)

Work at the Vertical Engine Test Stand
As 38 North (https://www.38north.org/2018/03/sohae032018/) detailed in March, North Korea's vertical test stand looked relatively undisturbed. On July 20, however, satellite imagery revealed the presence of a crane and several vehicles, while a rail-mounted environmental shelter which hadn't moved since December has been razed and removed. Meanwhile, older fuel/oxidizer bunkers look to be getting demolished. That said, two newer fuel/oxidizer bunkers and a vehicle garage remain untouched along with the concreate foundation of the test stand.
The activity appears to have been conducted sometime over the last two weeks, according to 38 North.

Let's see if NBC / CBS / ABC / WSJ / NYT cover these latest developments as fervently as their reports that North Korea was trying to "deceive" the US.
