First time offenders who come into the U.S. illegally are generally charged with a misdemeanor – but a new bill aims to change that.
Legislation introduced by Rep. Diane Black, R-Tenn., Tuesday would make illegal entry into the U.S. a felony offense, something she said would act as a “disincentive” to people who are thinking of crossing the border.
“The United States government should never prioritize illegal immigrants over American citizens,” Black said in a statement. “By no longer creating incentives to come to our country unlawfully, we also discourage families from sending their children on an often dangerous journey to reach our southern border.”

A felony record would hinder an individual attempting to come into the U.S. legally as it would prevent (http://www.alllaw.com/articles/nolo/us-immigration/can-you-get-green-card-have-criminal-record.html) that person from obtaining a green card, Black told Fox News.

"We are a compassionate nation and we are a country filled with compassionate people. I've been abroad and I've seen the hardships that people go through, but we've got to have some kind of control and order," she said.

Dubbed the “Zero Tolerance for Illegal Entry Act,” Black’s bill would also mandate employers use the E-Verify system to ensure employees are in the country legally and allowed to work in the U.S. Additionally, it redirects funding from so-called sanctuary cities (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/03/22/sanctuary-cities-what-are.html) to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.

Trump should build a high speed train with no stops from the Mexican border to Canada. It would be a fantastic train. The best train. A train that connects two great nations. The best train ever.

It's called an airplane. If the rest of your jokes are the same quality you can skip them.

You should consider doing the same.

Black is never anti-immigration unless she's running for something. In this case, she is running for governor of Tennessee.

Ahh, yes, and if passed, it would soon be a felony for Americans to leave the country.

Such freedom.

And with a prison sentence in a US prison of at least a year and a day. If you’re concerned with costs it’d be better to have them on welfare. But most that make it through aren’t on welfare - they’re working and taking care of themselves.

A felon in jail costs us $70,000 a year. Illegal immigrants aren't even eligible for welfare so the costs would be considerably higher to taxpayers. And would do wonders for our court system. http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?524116-With-zero-tolerance-new-strain-on-already-struggling-immigration-courts

But if we give them a year at "hard labor" building a wall then it's a win/win. It's all about de-incentivising.

Maybe we could get Mexico to pay for that.

Maybe if we help them build their southern border wall?

Who will build our Asian wall? China? (Asia is now where most immigrants- legal and illegal- are coming from- not Mexico: China is now #1 and India #2) https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2015/08/asians-now-outpace-mexicans-in-terms-of-undocumented-growth/432603/

We'll build it along the DPRKalifornia border.

We can also shift ICE to the Port cities and coastal states when the land borders are secured.

Legal is fine. Everyone else needs to go through TSA like law abiding citizens.

<jerking_gesture> MOAR ILLEGAL! Yea, that's the problem. Its not illegal enough.

The solution is very simple: de-incentivize. The problem fixes itself...

Quit paying for their education, health-care, anchor babies, voting, etc. ...And fine the sh!t out their employers - use those fines to pay for any outstanding enforcement.

They face a 20% death rate when coming over, and are happy to do so. They dont give 2 sh!ts about a felony charge - besides, who's going to enforce the law? Its already illegal - dems love voters and repubs love cheap labor.

I always knew those asians and indians would be a problem. As an example it is unsafe to drive in Bloomington near the University . All these Asians with high performance cars and they cannot drive . This is going to cause my insurance to go up . Giving these people a rickshaw with a V6 , bad idea.
