PatriotOne

I wish RP would go the next step when explaining his non-interventionalist philosophy and speak of spreading democracy by being a good example and having countries want to emulate us. And also speak about keeping open dialogue with foriegn countries, etc., etc., etc.

Trance Dance Master
07-02-2007, 01:28 PM
Yea, I got the ads on the radio. I'm recording this on cassette. People are calling in now! He's taking questions.

MsDoodahs
07-02-2007, 01:29 PM
Gov't doesn't make anything - they tax (use of force to take money from americans) and print money (which causes price inflation here as in gas and groceries at stores we shop in). So to do "good" in Darfur through the state means that the gov't uses force to tax us and prints money which hurts us through price inflation. Both of those are BAD for americans.

Who is our gov't responsible for?

Helping in Darfur or doing no harm to americans FIRST?

It's really that simple...

Helping in Darfur can be and should be accomplished NOT by harming americans through taxation and inflation but through CHARITY.

Anyone remember CHARITY?

That's what existed BEFORE the gov't usurped the role of charity...

I posted most of the interview on http://www.spreadtheword2008.com There is a small section missing because I was using a shareware program that cut out after 10 minutes, by the time I restarted I lost about 1 minute of the actual interview. These recordings don't include the post commentary

That having been said, I don't think most people probably understood what RP was saying in terms of "stealing food" from Americans and giving it to the people of Darfur. Most folks were probably sitting there thinking that they'd be happy to give and don't see it as stealing... which (of course) is the whole point.

RP would do better by talking about helping Darfur through private organizations rather than using the US Govn't or the UN. He could talk about Katrina and racent UN scandals to show that private charities simply handle things like this better, because people can simply stop giving to any charity that does a bad job.

Swmorgan77
07-02-2007, 02:02 PM
He could also point out how government agencies and interference often gets in the way of these very effective voluntary charitable efforts.

Yes, he really does seem a bit fatigued, lately. He has toiled in (relative) obsurity for so long that I'm sure that all of this new attention is both physically and emotionally exhausting!

I love his message and I hope to see it sread as wide as possible... but I do think he needs to take a whole 24 hours off sometime very soon...

Hi all, I've been lurking for a while. I'm enjoying the forum a lot. I'm also a Ron Paul junkie :) I feel like I've been given a political education. Ron Paul is very enlightening.

Thank you for posting this interview with Ron Paul. I very much enjoyed it. I thought he sounded quite good. I also thought his point about the mess in Dafur was good: It is not a bad place for intervention, but people forget about the cost of an intervention. That is, the cost to the ordinary American due to the increased inflation needed to fund the intervention, and then there are all the unpredictable consequences. If I misunderstood, then I'd be happy if someone would correct me.
