The Paul Ryan amnesty bill failed to pass through the House on Wednesday and garnered fewer votes than the Trump-endorsed Goodlatte immigration bill.

The House failed to pass the Ryan amnesty bill, otherwise known as the Border Security and Immigration Reform Act (H.R. 6136), with a vote tally of 301 against the bill and 121 for the amnesty bill. At least 111 Republicans voted against the Ryan amnesty legislation. No Democrats voted for the legislation.

The House rejected a Republican compromise bill on immigration Wednesday in a worse-than-expected 121-300 vote, effectively ending a months-long GOP drama that had put the conference’s internal politics on display.

The measure won far fewer GOP votes than a more hard-line measure rejected last week in a 193-231 vote.

Only 121 Republicans backed it, compared to 193 for the earlier measure. Two Republicans did not cast votes on Wednesday, while 112 Republicans voted against it.

Votes on the bill were twice postponed to give Republicans more time to win support for the measure, which was opposed by Democrats.

But conservatives never really warmed to it, and President Trump put down the effort on Twitter, at one point saying that Republicans should stop wasting their time since the bill was seen as dead on arrival in the Senate.

The compromise bill would have provided a pathway to citizenship for so-called Dreamers, the issue that led centrist Republicans to launch a discharge petition to force a series of votes on immigration.

Discharge petitions are a way of getting around the House leadership to force a vote and are rarely used by members in the majority. Democrats backed those Republicans pushing the discharge petition to raise pressure on GOP leaders.

The decision to vote on the hard-line immigration measure last week and the compromise bill on Wednesday was part of a deal within the GOP conference that effectively quashed the petition.

The GOP's huge loss in the '18 elections will be blamed on this failure to pass the Ryan/Trump DACA amnesty. A "comprehensive" DACA amnesty bill for all illegal aliens will be pushed through the Dem majority congress, and Trump will take credit for being a great humanitarian who loves Hispanics.

Market forces will demand continued cheap labor, which will result in a new wave of illegal aliens to do the jobs that the newly minted DACA citizens won't do for the low wages that they used to get.

Market forces will demand a product that is more efficient not less efficient, otherwise gains are only temporary. The end result isnt always more efficiency though especially when taxes regulations are prohibiting growth.

Right now we are seeing stagflation when we should be booming unless bigger companies make bigger profits the bottom is going to fall out.

I think they will have to cut taxes again and they won't cut spending they will blame it on China.. it is too big of an opportunity for them to push the narrative.

Children of immigrants and immigrants that truly came here as children are no more likely to work (for low wages) than any other American kid. It was the parents who took the hard work for low wages.

Based on recent news, POTUS is behind the scene might be working on something big leveraging his good relationship with the party (assuming this is not fakenews):

Trump tells prankster posing as Sen. Bob Menendez, 'We're proud of you' and 'Great job' (https://www.northjersey.com/story/news/new-jersey/2018/06/29/president-donald-trump-tells-prankster-posing-nj-sen-bob-menendez-were-proud-you/746058002/?from=new-cookie)

Melendez said he then got a call from the president.

"Hi Bob, how are you?" Trump said at the start of the conversation as posted on the podcast. "How are you? Congratulations on everything, we're proud of you. Congratulations, great job. You went through a tough, tough situation and I don’t think a very fair situation, but congratulations."

"Bob, let me just tell you, I want to be able to take care of the situation, every bit as much as anybody else," Trump says. "I think we can do the whole thing. You know, I have a good relationship with the party, you have a good relationship with the party. And I think we can do a real immigration bill."
