They really are unhinged. Randal retweeted this post by GE bringing manufacturing back to the US. And what is the response?
Half the replies are upset about him visiting Russia. Man, they be butthurt over MAGA.

GE CEO says China tariffs' 'gross cost' could be $400 million

JULY 20, 2018

NEW YORK (Reuters) - General Electric Co, a major buyer of Chinese goods, estimates new tariffs on its imports from China could raise its costs by $300 million to $400 million overall before steps to lessen the impact, Chief Executive John Flannery said on Friday.

In comment on the tariffs set up by President Donald Trump, Flannery said GE imports about $2.9 billion worth of goods annually from China, roughly 10 percent of total its imports. The cost of the tariffs “could be $300 to $400 million at a gross level before any mitigating factors,” he said.

GE said it can lessen the costs by shifting to suppliers in other countries and by using “duty drawbacks” that provide refunds on duties paid on goods that are later exported.

General Electric to cut 12,000 jobs in power division

Dec. 7, 2017

General Electric plans to cut 12,000 jobs in its power division as the industrial conglomerate's new CEO institutes sweeping changes and the company grapples with a decline in business for coal and natural gas products.

The company will cut nearly one in five positions in its GE Power unit. Overall, the layoffs equal about 4% of the company's workforce of about 295,000 employees at the end of 2016.

Asked where the reductions would occur, GE spokesperson Katie Jackson said they would be "global." The company said layoffs would span "professional and production employees."

The move comes as CEO John Flannery, who took over for Jeffrey Immelt in August, is aiming to make GE more efficient. He has already earned a reputation for taking a microscope to GE's global business to identify opportunities for savings and changes.

GE said the cuts would contribute to its plans to slash $3.5 billion in "structural costs" in 2017 and 2018. That includes a $1 billion cost-cutting plan in 2018 by the GE Power division, which makes gas and steam turbines, electrical transmission products, nuclear plant infrastructure and other items.

SALEM, Va. - General Electric is closing its manufacturing plant in Salem, the company announced Friday morning.

Of the 265 employees who will lose their jobs, 42 percent are eligible for retirement. They will receive severance packages.

Other GE locations or supplier partners will take care of the work the plant handled.

GE is one of the area's largest employers and has been a staple in the community since 1955.
