The Defense Department is poised to take over background investigations for the federal government. Officials say the department will use increased automation and high-tech analysis to tighten controls and tackle an enormous backlog of workers waiting for security clearances.

Indeed! All the good TSA jobs require a secret clearance. I've even heard rumors of an elite group of TSA agents that requires top secret to even know of their existence. I probably shouldn't have told you that.
