It won't let me edit the post. After Google was caught listing the main ideology of the California Republican Party as “Nazism,” the search engine scrubbed its entire ideology listing instead of just removing “Nazism” – and kept the Democrats’ ideologies completely intact.
Why didn’t Google just remove Nazism? Why did the search giant also remove “conservativism,” “market liberalism,” and other truthful descriptors for the California GOP? It’s almost as if Google is implying that Nazism was just as honest as “fiscal conservativism” when describing the party in its “knowledge panel,” and just decided to delete the entire thing in response to the uproar.
It seems rather excessive for Google to remove the entire ideology listing altogether instead of just “Nazism,” especially given that the knowledge panel for the California Democratic Party still lists the party’s ideologies:

So why is it okay for Democrats to get the full ideology treatment in the knowledge panel, but not Republicans? Google’s “solution” definitely won’t silence critics who say the search giant is biased against conservative and libertarian viewpoints. And speaking of libertarians, Google’s knowledge panel for the California Libertarian Party also lacks an ideology listing:

Maybe Google just has trouble understanding ideologies that aren’t aligned with the left.

Last week, Republicans responded with outrage (https://thinkprogress.org/republicans-mad-google-nazis-jose-calderon-d48523bd1b5d/) after a Vice story (https://news.vice.com/en_us/article/vbq38d/google-is-listing-nazism-as-the-first-ideology-of-the-california-republican-party) noted that a Google algorithm listed “Nazism” under the California state GOP’s ideologies in its search results.
On Sunday, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee threatened to retaliate against the company with congressional hearings and called for the creation of a conservative Internet search engine to take Google’s place.
In an interview on Fox News, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) was asked about the controversy and did not mince words.
“I’m used to getting attacked, I enjoy getting attacked by these crazy leftists,” he told host Maria Bartiromo, “But what the American people need to understand is that there is bias against conservatives and Republicans all across this country.”

He complained that he has been unable to access the Drudge Report, a conservative aggregation feed, because it is being “censored on Twitter.” (ThinkProgress had no trouble accessing the feed (https://twitter.com/DRUDGE_REPORT/status/1003135036814577664) on Sunday.)
Asked whether we should expect to “see new legislation to try to stop social media from censoring conservative ideas,” Nunes threatened to rein in social media and search engines.

“The best thing would be is for there to be a new search engine that actually doesn’t censor conservatives,” he said. “I think there’s a free market solution here if somebody can compete with Google. If they can’t, then ultimately we’re looking at monopolies, and then that brings in a whole other set of circumstances.”

“Are these companies — Facebook, Twitter, Google, Apple, et cetera — are they monopolies and should they be reined in? I would hope we don’t have to go there. I would hope that they just don’t get involved in politics and don’t censor conservatives and Republicans. But if they continue to do it, then we have to move obviously to hearings on these issues,” he concluded.
