We have had at least one carrier in the Mediterranean for decades and yes, they sail back and forth. The OP was intended to imply the US was leaving Syria which was false. It was normal movement. Nothing newsworthy.

At the time there was a rumor that the US was about to conduct a major attack against Syria, the turnaround showed that that wasn't going to happen, I have posted the fleets movements since because there are still rumors of an imminent attack and the fleets location is relevant.
