I think one big issue is that kids are no longer allowed to resolve their own problems. You can't punch someone who is "bullying" you. There's no such thing any more as a go-as-you-please fistfight. You can't call someone an asshole even though they're acting like one.

Kids have no outlet. There is no continuum of resolution. These shooters go from 0-60 in a split second because there is no interim 10, 20, 30. 40, or 50 MPH. They hold it all in until they explode.

Add things like sedating drugs and it's no wonder you have powder kegs.
