Four socialist-backed candidates win Pennsylvania elections

Four Democratic candidates backed by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) won primary elections Tuesday, a major victory for the socialist movement.

In the Pittsburgh area, Summer Lee and Sara Innamorato, both members of DSA, won primaries for House Districts 34 and 21, respectively.

Lee and Innamorato defeated state representatives Paul Costa and Dom Costa, who are cousins. They do not have Republican opponents in the general election.

And in Philadelphia, Democrats Elizabeth Fiedler and Kristin Seale won primaries in House Districts 184 and 168. Fielder does not have a GOP opponent in the general election, while Seale will take on Rep. Christopher Quinn.

All four female candidates unseated male state representatives.

Arielle Cohen, co-chair of the Pittsburgh DSA chapter, told HuffPost that she feels a "monumental shift" after the victories, noting DSA’s growing membership since President Trump's election.

"We won on popular demands that were deemed impossible. We won on health care for all, we won on free education,” she said.

“We’re turning the state the right shade of red tonight,” she added.

Don't know what are the catalysts here but looking at recent breed of "free marketers turned tarde warriors" who party and feast while little babies are killed with tax payers funded machinery right next to them, I could go with genuine anti-war socialists over such wars oppression profiteering bogus 'free marketers' if that was the choice.

That's the preferred option, "given the choice" was more like if forced to choose between the two.

I'm not talking about ideologically genuine folks who probably are in very very small numbers and relegated to sidelines.

Either one of these extreme examples is far from ideal, you are right. I'm sure a 'Vaginas' run regime would have problems of its own too but these gals also showed some glimpses of common sense and morality now and then. This is an example of their coverage when liberal-in-chief Obama was in WH:
